Pad work is an essential element of a fighter's training in the art of Muay Thai. It is one of the best tools in the art to elevate the levels of conditioning required to become the best one can be in this sport. But in order to achieve these aspects, we must first start with the basics of proper holding as well as commencing with the use of correct techniques thrown in a singular fashion before embarking on a quest of multiple and more advanced combinations and counter work.
In this video, we go through some of these basic techniques and how they are practiced on the Thai Pads, correctly.
Watch and practice.

Thank you for this awesome video! Definitely did the rookie mistake you pointed out on holding the pads absorbing my partner's kicks.... Ouch! After I did that triangle and loose hold, felt so much better!!! You saved us unnecessary pain!!! Holding technique is so (if not as much) important as the kicking itself... Love the clear instructions. Simply awesome!!

I think I've found my youTube sensei. Thank you, Danny; I've been looking into and judging the other dudes on here doing what you're doing. Your Dadio-spirit and calm speech just absolutely crushes the English speaking comp, man. Consider me a hungry student with extra sweat for a fearless leader. Thank you, Brother.

Aweseome video on fundementals. I feel like alot of people think fundementals are shown to new student because they are easy to do. In fact, they are shown because they are the most important and this will hold true for the entire student's journey.

@@ExperienceMMAI have a quick question. My son complains of getting mouthguard gag. Is it wise to cut/trim the mouthguard to help or not
@ExperienceMMA
@ExperienceMMA Ай бұрын
@@krisselwyn6261 Yes, it might be too big. Cut both ends a bit and see if it more comfortable, if not, you can get a kids size sports mouthguard which aren't as wide. Also, just in case - make sure to boil and bite to fit it (I know this sounds silly, but we've run across a few parents that totally forgot to do this step to size it to their kids).

@8:45 good advice on pad angle. It should be from about 50 degrees up to about 80 degrees. Some pad holders hold pad at < 45 degree, forcing kicker to swing the leg up, not horizontally like swinging a baseball bet. Tell tale sign is the toe pointing up towards ceiling and heel pointing down to the floor. Oh! I prefer belly pad for push kick. This will prevent accidental foot damage

I’m no master, and I like the way you show and explain, the pad work looks smooth so you definitely know what you are doing… but I question why you would throw a 12oclock elbow that way? I’ve only ever seen jumping elbows thrown that way

Tie fighters typically like to use round tick round kicks either using the front leg or rear leg round kicks sometimes they jump in the air and kick you with the round kick in The Head or jaw

That's important to do some Muay tire here we use a lot of that to kickboxing you know that round kick is very important in the rain we use that probably more than any other care cuz it's simple try to kicks of the simplest so we use a lot of mood tie but kickboxing you know we have a lot of more kick sidekick front kicks hook kicks we use all kinds of kicks

Hi I would like to know if muay thai compared to other contact sports (mma, kickboxing) is somewhat safer for the brain being quite scared by the new CTE data. I am asking this question because I noticed that in Muay thai there is more emphasis on body strikes and fewer head strikes than in other sports and those are delivered by lighter weight fighters. Is this a fair round? Are these reasons real? And another reason would be that I see many former muay thai fighters reaching their 60's and having a career of over 300 fights and being mentally well. I ask because I have a 7 year old boy who wants a career in contact sports either kickboxing, mma or muay thai. Thank you!

The unorthodox jargon is a little off putting, ie swing kick instead of round house or body kick or low kick, and push kick instead of teep. But I do like the calm demeanor

Notice the jab. The student is doing muaythai step for jab. Taking a slight step forward with the left foot.

Assistant instructor lol sorry is it cause he hold the bags, dont thunk he gets coffee :) ? Or because he needs higher level belt to be an instructor? All kidding aside nice video. Alex is getting bigger. Nice control on the kicks also. Didn't see really any movement. Not sure what is called some people kick and go flying lol (push kick) I was watching the kicks in slow motion. Apparently even when you said go slow the sound of the pad was before his leg hit the bag in the video but the leg is blured
