I was really angry at him for a while about the HK situation and the fact that he seemed to directly side with the CCP in their genocide of Uygher Muslims. But as I reflected, I also realized it is very hard to tell whether celebrities' actions were entirely their own decisions, especially in the industry Jackson is in. A lot of his colleagues and Chinese celebrities uncharacteristically have appeared to support one-China and the CCP's actions, and there is a lot of speculation that there might be circumstances that cause them to not have much of a choice. I in no way am justifying anything Jackson (or any of these other celebrities) has said or done concerning these issues, but I also don't believe he is a bad person. I personally find it hard to support and respect him, even if I used to be a really big fan of his. But I see both sides of this argument, and in the end I don't think I have the right to decide whether he is right or wrong. I think the people in and from HK have every right to feel angry at him, so I hope moving forward, fans can listen to what they are saying instead of blindly defending him when he may be hurting people with his actions. And if this conversation continues in the replies, feel free to keep educating each other, but all I ask is that you keep it kind and civil. Please be considerate of people's feelings. At the time I commented this, I just felt like Jackson had a fun and social personality as that's how I knew him for years, but I now understand why this may have been harmful to people, so I'm sorry.
