The biggest issue with this game is that instead of fleshing out a single moveset they for some reason made a billion different characters more shallow than Streets of Rage characters. It’s like the beat-em-up equivalent of Chrono Cross

This actually reminds me of Guardian Heroes, which had a 4 player vs. mode that allowed you to play as every enemy and NPC in the game, including NPC peasants that had NO ATTACKS.

I really like the part 5 ps2 game because it does a pretty good job at emulating the fights in the manga where you do tons of damage if you do attacks or actions they did in the manga including acessing new dialogue and cutscenes

It's kind of funny how this is actually a movie tie-in game, since it was made to tie into the lost Part 1 movie. I think there might even be music in there by Soul'd Out, but I could be wrong. I know they did music for the movie, and Araki actually put Magenta Magenta and Wekapipo in Steel Ball Run as a "no hard feelings" about what ended up happening with the film, which is funny.

This might be true, but the character designs, cutscenes, art style and content are more faithful to the manga then the movie. The voice acting is also different.

Phantom Blood is just the perfect Jojo part to do a beatemup action game out of as the fighting is very physical and there's a lot of trash mobs to beat up, unfortunately the power progression is really hamstrung by the plot progression (you have to wade through the high tides as weak young Jonathan long before you get Hamon, the core system of the part's fighting style), which is also an issue with Phantom Blood in general, it takes too long to reach the action parts before people just get bored. Unlike the normal "weak to strong" progression it comes across more as having to spend hours playing one game before you can play another.

It's honestly crazy how much better the part 5 game is. Like, it's still a clunky awkward ps2 action game, but it plays SO much better than the part 1 game. Especially since it came out a whole 4 years earlier

Perfect timing, I just started watching JOJO this week and I finished Part 2. Joseph may be my favorite JOJO so far. Update: I am fully caught up on JOJO and I can’t wait for the rest of Part 6 to drop. My favorite is still Joseph with Josuke being a close second. My favorite OP is Great Days Units version.

This game may be ass, but it holds a special place in my heart. See, I had minimal knowledge of the actual series aside from mid-2000s memes back in the day. I wanted to know more of the silly knife & steamroller stick figure animations I saw. So I found a Let's Play of this game, played by some friends who knew the series inside and out for the time so they offered good translations, explanations, and elaborations on things in the story that the game wasn't super clear on. It was fun to watch, and to finally learn more of the series I was so curious about.

@@halionextra I don't remember the name of the channel, this was probably over a decade ago. It was just an LP of the game with some friends playing it, and like I said one was translating on the fly as the game was played by someone else as they dual commentated.

It’s quite the shame that the first animated film adaptation for the Jojo franchise is lost media. My theory is that since APPP lost the license to the Jojo franchise after the whole Quran controversy, they didn’t have the rights to release the 2007 Jojo phantom blood movie. How can a movie released to theaters not too long ago now be lost media.

@@ahmadkhairul337 The studio that made the Stardust Crusader OVAs also made Phantom Blood, but due to a scene in SC where Dio is reading a Quran while saying he'll kill the Crusaders there was some controversy post 9-11 and they lost the licensing rights; hence why you can't find any newer releases of SC OVA either.

Part 1 is always gonna be my favorite, its SO mistreated and underrated by the fandom...and this game does not help matters with how much of a waste of potential it (the game) is :(

I agree. Jonathan is the character that has struggles that were personal and made him strong . He didnt bend or break , he stood for his principals till the end and didnt forget his origins while having a very miserable time with dio . Thats why Jonathan is actually the best jojo. The other jojos are great too but Jonathan ... he was upstanding , very reasonable , respectable and down to the ground . The only chad that is the goodest of boys and an perfect example of a man with heart and clear principals. Jonathan resonates with me the most and is my favourite jojo. And his Theme-song is the best , fight me !!!

@@Snyperwolf91 Mhm! I agree! And I honestly prefer the way that he's simple while not being as bland as people say. There's a time and place for simplicity in characters, and Jonathan hit that nail PERFECTLY on the head. Honestly, in terms of later Joestars, I kind of wish Joseph was more like his polite appearance with the cops while still struggling with his roid rage and still maintaining a more playful air than his grandfather. It would have been a great way to contrast and foreshadow the growing punkishness of the Joestar lineage, though I totally appreciate and understand why he ended up the total goofball that he was :)

OUCH! Though I like how for the DMC1 water level defense you showed in game proof that it can be beaten in a minute. Unlike a certain reviewer (I won't name him because I don't want to be responsible for people sending hate mail to) I remember defending Big's fishing in Sonic Adventure 1 by saying it can be beaten in a certain amount of time.

The water level also controls completely fine (especially if you are playing the remaster) I had a longer bit talking about the DMC water level but cut it since it just felt too tangenty and not the main focus of the video or section

I finished this game 3 days ago I kicked the shit out of tarkus with zeppli in my second try with 95% of my health. I kept him at the corner and started doing combo, then pushed triangle which stuns him, leading me to start another chain of combos and posing in middle of my attacks, building up hamon, whenever he tried to crush me with his annoying attack I pressd circle which counters and breaks his combo with those annoying rocks. And then I use the first combo pose to regain my lost health. The combat was really badly made but the way I defeated this oversized giant made me feel like a real badass. I wished there was more accessible jojo games.

I've only ever watched the JOJO OVA and LOVED it, was sad when the still running popular anime has a lot less gruesome moments, the OVA hit this awesome balance between extreme violence, and then breaking it up with levity and character building that was done so well that in just those few episodes, death's that happened STILL surprised me! I'm sure the new anime is great, but good lord the animation and the vibe of the OVA is something I'll always wish there was more of.

It’s two layers on the video timeline in adobe premiere. Main video on top with the letterboxing cropped off with. Second layer is an enlarged version of the same footage with a Gaussian Blur of 45% on it

It always makes me laugh when people think ps2 games are bad when they're actually just trash at the combat, I remember thinking Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven was a bad game until I actually got good at it and then I started having fun It's like people forget that they're playing videogames that were made in the extremely early 2000s, when 3D games had just over half a decade to mature
