Joker: Folie à Deux is an upcoming American musical film directed by Todd Phillips from a screenplay he co-wrote with Scott Silver. Produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, Village Roadshow Pictures, DC Studios, Bron Creative and Joint Effort, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, the film is based on the Joker and other characters appearing in DC Comics publications, serving as the sequel to Joker (2019). The film's cast features Joaquin Phoenix and Zazie Beetz reprising their roles as Arthur Fleck / Joker and Sophie Dumond respectively from the first film, alongside newcomers Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener.

Joker 2 has had a lot of criticisms thrown its way and while I think those criticisms are justified, there are many reasons why it's one of my most anticipated comic book movie releases. The Joker, along with the Lighthouse and 1917 were my favorite movies in 2019. I didn't think it needed a sequel. Joaquin Phoenix is one of my favorite actors, so I'm definitely going to watch the film. The Joker 2, Gladiator 2 and Nosferatu are three movies, I'm looking forward to in 2024. Thanks for the commentary ❤️💛💚 "Leave my expectations at the door and judge it when I see it". I like that.

My guesses for a couple of characters for the sequel based on some of the casting: Catherine Keener - Dr Leslie Tompkins Brendan Gleeson - Commissioner Loeb And if they do a third for this series, I think they could do something using Sean Murphy's White Knight universe.

Warner/DC is utterly unafraid to give a totally different contradictory take on its characters even in parallel with other takes for even the same age or audiences. This is a great strength they have had since the 1960s when they invent multiverse to contain all this riot of diversity, do "imaginary" stories etc.

I was disappointed when they announced Gaga for the role. It was such an obvious choice. It would have been refreshing seeing a new female face...

It’s going to be mostly covers of popular songs. That’s a blessing and a curse because original songs would be such a better way to tell the story and ofc they’d be original. But covers will be of stuff you know and can sing/hum along to

This is one of the most unnecessary sequels ever made. The only reason this movie is being made is because the first one made money.

Simple take. Isn’t that true with the vast majority of sequels? That Todd Phillips and the creators of Harley Quinn contributed to the movie’s writing has some weight to it. Doesn’t appear that it’s just the studio pushing out something to milk a brand.

@@emo3113 yes, it is the case for most movies, that’s why most sequels are not as good as the original. Good sequels, like godfather part 2, the two towers and empire strikes back are good because they were planned before the original came out.

@@heatheraldazabal358 Aliens, Mad Max Fury Road, Back to the Future 2, Top Gun Maverick. There are examples of unplanned sequels with great success. Can’t it be that Joker 2 joins those?

@@emo3113 the first three movies you mentioned are great, too gun maverick is just a good movie, nothing exceptional. Great unplanned sequels are the exception, not the rule.

Dune 2 is the second part of a story which is unresolved in the first. Joker 2 is an unnecessary sequel, which while it might be good, it could also be bad. We'll see.

Well, I think Godzilla x Kong sequel will be useless because it will forcing to be box office disappointment.
