I imagine Yu had an easier transition, since the P4 anime came out only a couple years after the game and basically set the standard for his character going forward. P5 anime Joker left much less of an impression on viewers, so most people just pulled his personality from the Mementos Mission manga and the occasional bits of cockiness he had in-game.

Dude, it’s so surreal to see Joker actually talking in a game. Sure, there’s the P5 anime and maybe P5D but this time, there’s another silent protagonist that’ll be taking that place and now Joker gets to be an actual character this time.

You heard it folks. Ren Amamiya, Akira Kurusu- whatever you want to call him as, the one we know as Joker has recently break his chains of “silent protagonist in a P5 spinoff” that was holding him back. Even if it’s in a gacha game, I’m so proud of my boy!!

Well, he is also referred to as Ren Amamiya which means that it is his canon name alongside being fully voiced.

I presume Ryuji's VA was not present nor had the time to record cuz they are only using pre-recorded lines from the base game. Its weird why they decided to have everyone be voiced normally with dialog yet he gets simple gestures

I hope they release this globally with Eng VAs, the only time I've ever heard Ren/Joker speak full sentences is in P5A, P5D, and debatably Pokemon Masters EX whenever Steven Stone talks since he has the same VA(Xander Mobus)
