You have to think about the long battle of the season. They go from October till June. 82 games and playoffs. Flights all the time. He’s not American and he just wants to go home, see his family and horses. If your work took you away from home 8 months. Regardless of how much you love the game, you are ready to go home

@@knightsfb32 Oh, I definitely get it (and thanks for breaking it down b/c you're absolutely right)... but I still agree with the OP. notwithstanding how much of a grind it must be on a yearly basis, being NBA MVP and a clear first-ballot HOFer on a Championship winning team, while making tens of millions of dollars a year, would be without a shadow of a doubt a dream come true for 99% of humanity past, present, and future and 100% of NBA fans past, present and future. So it''s still a wild thing for anyone to say. (Although it also shows that for everyone the grass is always greener on the other side, b/c Jokic clearly has what so many ppl think they want in life and doesn't seem to think it's all that it's cracked up to be. That may be lack of gratitude on his part, but it might also simply be fact of life for everyone that we all take their own circumstances for granted... And there are some other possibilities too, like Jokic simply understands what really matters in life, and it's not money or professional success)

For those who falsly think his lack of emotion immediately following the finals was a lack of "caring," you need to go search his interview he did for Serbian TV. He speaks very candidly about that moment in his native language and basically says, "The level of focus I needed to have to play the way I did and win an NBA championship is so great that I found myself unable to unwind. I can not let that focus slip even for one moment, or I can not be who I need to be to win the finals. When the game ended, I just had a hard time letting go of that focus until I saw my family freaking out and yelling, and I was able to begin to relax a little." This is an eye-opening statement. What an interesting answer that shows just how uber-competitive and dedicated he is to his craft. That is the weird type of answers you get from those who are next-level competitors, not from a guy who doesn't care all that much. I realize he is an introvert. He is humble and has a dry sense of humor. His home is thousands of miles away, and he undoubtedly misses it when he is here. But you are wrong if you assume he doesn't care about basketball or winning the NBA finals. He cares greatly.

The only parade he would care about is back in Serbia and his home town with his friends and family. As an immigrsnt myself, slavic at that, i would say around 80% of people from eastern europe moving west for work are just waiting til they can go back home. Im happy that i have managed to assimilate enough to a point where i feel here more at home than in Poland but it still feels like im a stranger and an alien in a hostile place even after 10 years. So im guessing Jokic is just waiting to get it done, make and save as much money as possible and go back home... his real home in eastern europe.
