The thing that hurt me the most when the Mets lost the 2015 World Series was that was probably Wright's last shot to get a ring. He deserved it more than any Mets player I can remember because how he kept a positive attitude while The Wilpons and Minaya grossly mismanaged that team. He'll always be one of my favorite Mets and I'm glad you did this video to show how great he was.

When i was little, my dad had a david wright poster that he put in my room. i didn’t know who the mets were but i knew who david wright was. when i went to my first game a couple years later, i vividly remember trying to figure out which person was david wright. Even though i never really watched him in his peak, he’s an incredible inspiration to me and many when it comes to baseball. got to go to his final game, standing room only, but it was a great experience. amazing video jolly.

@@earlymorninstonedpimp he is one of the Mets that I will always have the utmost respect for. While I started watching the Mets before Wright came up, and it was Mike Piazza who got me interested in baseball, it was David Wright who made me fall in love with the game. He will forever be my favorite Met, and nobody will ever replace him. I was at his first, and ONLY career walk off home run in 2008, and I was there for his last game in 2018. Me and my friends waited outside the players exit to get even a chance to say thank you, and we got something better. He came over to every fan, shook their hands, gave us hugs, and thanked everyone for being there for him throughout his career. It’s a moment I’ll never forget. To this day I miss David. I wish he could have had one final go with the new stars, like Alonso, Lindor, and McNeil, but I’ll never trade the memories he gave me. Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened. Thank you Jolly, and thank you David. 💙🧡

You definitely did this story justice, Jack! As a Mets fan, the legend of David Wright is one I will cherish forever. My heart broke for Wright when his injury problems started to pile up. I shed a few tears watching this, for Wright did everything in his power to get back on the field against all odds. I can't imagine how he felt asking for his parents to help him get out of bed. Whatever he felt, he wanted to overcome it and I think him working through his injuries is as much an achievement as his incredible career. Thanks for this video, Jack! (Also, can you possibly make a video on the Mets 2008 season? So much happened that year from some players underperformed, Willie Randolph getting fired, and The Mets going on a run once Jerry Manuel took the manager helm. We lost the last game but there was some magic there worth noting.)

The fact that he could impact the game with all of his tools was amazing to me. The way he carries himself should be the model for any baseball player. One of my favorite Wright moments was in 2016 against the Brewers at Citi Field. I was there. 1 out, bases loaded in the 9th. Brewers bullpen was imploding. Wright was on the verge of being walked but instead he took a swing. Whole stadium gasped as the ball flew into the air. Rain was pouring down. As soon as the ball hit the grass, the whole place erupted. One of my favorite memories attending a Mets game.

There aren’t enough words to describe how much more David deserved during and after his career. The greatest position player in a franchise’s history who rewrote the record book only made it to two playoff runs in his entire career and was forced to cut what could have been a HOF career short. It annoys me so much that I’m not old enough to remember any of David’s best years, as the years of 2010-2011 are the first years where I can remember at least smidges of what was going on. It couldn’t have happened to a better guy both on and off the field. The ending of 2015 was the epitome of how David never got what he truly deserved, and it only continued thru the few times he stepped back on the field and the events that led to his retirement. I cried my eyes out in my bedroom when I got back home from his final game in 2018. He was the reason I loved baseball even if I had never seen him at his peak. I wore 5 on my back all thru years of little league and travel ball play until he retired, switching to 55 to jokingly “retire” the number. In the end, it was a HOF career that got derailed by some of the worst circumstances possible, and it’s just straight up unfair to not know what would have happened in even a slightly more perfect world.

"The Captain's gone deep" call by Joe Buck sends chills down my spine to this day. I wanted that WS so badly for David Wright; at least he had his World Series moment. Feels like a lot of his teams were snake bitten: 2006 (injuries to Duaner Sanchez leading to trading Xavier Nady, Cliff Floyd, Pedro and El Duque all out for NLCS), 2007 & 2008 Collapses. 2009 The Dimensions messing with Wright's power and Beltran's knees wearing out. Yet Wright stayed consistent then the injuries came and they came vigorously basically sapping any chance at a HOF career (Possibly 450 Hrs by the end of his career had injuries not happened). I was at Wright's last game with tears in my eyes as i saw the only Captain I grew up with (were 2 years apart in age) retire way too soon. "Oh Captain, My Captain"

So glad to have been at his final game. He was such an amazing ballplayer, and he is an even better person. I’m not sure if my Mets fandom and passion for baseball would be what it is today without David Wright
