Great interview. I was blessed to see and meet him recently in ATL for the City Winery tour. Amazing!!! And he's just as cool, handsome, and humble in person. Definitely looking forward to the new music this year.

Good luck w/ the new album, Jon. And I mean it. I know how difficult it is nowadays. 6:36 to 6:55 - you better talk that talk. See, I never felt like you were trying too hard. A lot of yo' inflections comes from us. I believe you're authentic. We've been rockin' for 25 years. Don't let me find no racist tapes now. I know how y'all get down (just kidding😜) My dad couldn't stand Vanilla Ice. I _like-ted Ice Ice Baby_ when I was little. Now Jon, I feel you on what needs to happen in r&b, but let's face it, these kids _cain't_ sing. The reason why they're singing so minimally is because that's all they can do. Some of them say _Oh, the record label won't let me really sing_ and yadda, yadda, yadda, but that's bullsh¡t. You have to be born w/ the gift of song, Jon. H.E.R. and Ella Mai sing the way they sing because that's just how they voices are. That's they register. That's they range. A lot of them don't know how to riff and run, much less even knows what that means. Also, if you're relying on auto-tune and reverb then what difference does it make? You don't necessarily have to blow like Mr. Johnny Gill because I've come to realize that a lot of folks don't wanna hear all of that. I get it, but DAMN! At least have a voice or prowess like Ginuwine. You know, he's somewhere in the middle to where it's actual singing, but it's not too much. Or even you, Jon. You never could blow all like that, but you can definitely sing. 10:15 to 10:50 is exactly how I feel. They call it a _vibe_ which is such a smack in the face. If I were a singer and somebody said _Yeah, she do got a vibe_ v. *Dang, she can sang,* I'd feel hella bad. I'm embarrassed for these kids who go out singing the way they do nowadays. But alas, if you say something about it, you're old, jealous and bitter. _This is not 1994, this is 2019._ It's like *Nah, really, muthafucka?! I thought it was 1967...* (rolls eyes) Anyhow, at the end of the day, these kids dictate what's hot so I sorta have to step back and let them have they fun. Realistically, I've already had my fun. Oh and for the record, The Weeknd, Khalid and the other "artists" y'all mentioned cannot sing. I'm sorry, but no. They're not r&b. They're pop.
