1444 Smokercraft with Mercury 20 HP. Boat has floor and deck made out of 1/2 inch plywood , motor has standard 13 pitch aluminum propeller, no modifications.

Up on a plane from the start, no porpoising at speed. Nice 20 2stroke. Too bad here in Ca. Especially in San Diego harbor patrol are asses to us die hard 2 stroke lovers. Some years back it became illegal to purchase a brand new 2 stroke in California because of omission laws. The early 80's 15hp Evinrude my Grandfather bought at Sears with proper maintenance is in it's prime! At least that's what it feels like. Well done vid gentlemen.

It'd be worthwhile to build a steering console for that boat. I'm currently looking into it for a 15 ft I have. Even if it becomes a little pricey, I think the coolness factor will keep the resale value high.

Looks like this boat would be a 14 foot and 44 inches wide right? Was wondering about the width and saw 14-44 on the side. Nice looking boat and motor. Thank you for sharing.

I have a 93 20hp and i think these early 90s mercs have so much more power then the late 90s early 2000s 20 or 25hp mercs.I had my 20hp merc go against a 25hp 2stroke yamaha and i smoked it with no mods whatsoever and the standard prop on each.

I had a new1983 25hp merc on my 14ft aluminum it was a rocket....I miss that motor!

Are older motors better than new outboards? Seems like they may be lighter

yes, 2 strokes are way lighter per Horsepower. but the greenies hate them

If I may, yes sir absolutely the 2-stroke is lighter hands down. One other thing you can't do with a 4-stroke is laying down sideways on the ground.

@@integr8er66 Not about hate 2 stokes creates alot water pollution. Two stroke do have better hole shot get on plan faster and alot lighter 4 stroke better for water quality means Healthier Environment for fish Know smoke 95% less outboard motor Noise If you like smelling Exhaust breathing in smoke like loud outboard noise and polluting the water 2 strokes are for you

@@garybelmore1691 Ya seems I was right, your post shows you don't like them, I just know my 1966 Merc 200 still runs great today, you can't say that about anything made in the last 20 years

@@integr8er66 Don't get me wrong I owned several 2 strokes back in the day past 3 year's bought my 1st four stroke EFI one smooth Running Machine. I agree 2 stroke will out live a 4 stroke know Doubt for Now anyways 4 stroke EFI Technology fairly New Than again we all know Now days Manufacturers make products too Not last 54 years

P.S. why is it with a two stroke you can just go ahead and take it off your transom and laid on the ground but with a 4-stroke you can't do it it's a no no.

The oil must stay in the sump (or oil pan) Any engine turned upside down will leak oil past the pistons into the combustion chamber. It's awful for an engine.
