Very nicely done. Awesome job. We did the same thing to a 19’6” 1984 Renken bowrider with the old OMC Seadrive set up. Complete rebuild of boat and motor. Trailer was junk so we bought a new aluminum one for it. All in all we spent approximately $3500 from purchase to using it and we have what the insurance company valued at $15,000 boat. I’m extremely happy with that. Safe boating my friend. By the way , Loving the tee shirt. Damn right !! 🇺🇸🗽🦅

Something I picked up is, to take a torch to your hole saw before going though the carpet. It won't cause you carpet to get chewed up. It will melt the edges of the nylon fibers.

@gooblahredneck9665 жыл бұрын
If you get it right, you could take an old hole saw and sharpen the edges to where you have a punch for your carpet. I don't really know how practical the tool would be on Marine carpet, but it's a thought. I haven't tried this, but thought I would mention my thoughts.

nice job... That's what I do for Extra Change, I'm 50 and retired a few years ago and needed something to do so I picked up a Free Boat on a trailer. I only wanted the trailer but the aluminum Boat was really nice except it had some damage where it had fallen off the trailer at freeway speeds and then hit by a car . I own my own fab shop but no longer work their daily. with the guys I have it runs itself. That said there is no sheet-metal/aluminum work or welding I cant do, so I fix up mainly aluminum boats and Occasionally a fiberglass or a wooden boat.. There is good money in it if you don't mind hard work and dirty hands. I've already made over 20K this year on Craig's list free boats!

One more thing I think I'd do - reward the project with a new steering wheel - something pricey, chromey, maybe with dark wood trim. That way everytime you touch the boat you'd be reminded of the quality and work that went into it. Would look cool too. Nice job, something to be proud of for sure!

More fishermen like this please! I've got a 17' aluminum Fisher Marsh Hawk from 1987 and it's all I'll ever need to get out there and catch 5+ pound Bass and Walleye. All of you tournament guys running around in your $80,000 dollar nitro triton 5000's with tv screens on them to find the fish are a sad joke. Probably the same guys who pay guides $1000 to show you how to fly fish! LOL I digress. Great project gentlemen! That's a nice little boat now go put it to use!

We just bought a 1985 15'6" Kingfisher today. It's not as rough a shape as the one in the vid, but does need a little TLC. Can't wait to get it lookin good again. Mainly, it needs to have the gel coat repaired along the rim of the deck. It's worn down to the fiberglass in some places, but no chips. I'm thinking about just using the spray on bedliner and coat it with that. Being waterproof and slightly rough, but not scratchy, I think it will work well. Thanks for a fantastic vid.

Makes me wish I had videoed or at least taken pics of the conversion I'm doing on my 12' V-Haul. Restored and installing a casting deck, livewell, & battery box with exterior charging. Even put fog lights on it like head lights so when I come home at night I can see what's floating in front of me. Ran a similar switch panel and wired my trolling motor straight into the boat with a hidden kill switch so my kids can't disappear with it. You did a killer job and are a great inspiration!!!

I do it about the same as you in NW, except some of us, right before trailers in water we stop an tie bow line to back of trailer an unhook wench an safety. Then i back in an watch boat slip off trailer then I pull forward until rear of trailer again out of water. Now you didn't need to get out an get feet wet. Just back in, boat slips off, pull trailer back out of water with boat tied to rear of trailer. We do it different with two or more involved in launch. You did great job on your boat motor an trailer! Check list is important and consistency trying to do everything the same that's where your check list comes in. Thanks Tim

Thanks so much for sharing this I’ve done a few vintage sleds. But I want a fishing boat but do not want to put a ton of money into one so it might take some elbow grease, learning as I go and some patients. Bust of luck!
