I'll never forget my journey to Lapland... we were in a small restaurant lodge in the middle of nowhere, cold and dark outside but warm and atmospheric light inside, it was quiet and we were served some fish and vegetables by a very calm, quiet but friendly Finnish man and his wife, and this was playing softly at the background. Quite a difference from where I live, Amsterdam.

ancient sami people lived in harsh conditions, the distans between their neighbors was simply to vast just to share news. but they lived among great valleys and hills it was normally very quiet and a load voice would carry a very long distant. so they had a certain language which allowed them to throw their voices really far. this language wasn't made up by letters or word but your basic feelings, happiness, sorrow or anger and so on. this song is a shout from a man who lost out his closest friend and shouts out his sorrow. if you've lived in the far north you know alot about isolation and this song breaks my heart every time. its just such a beautiful concept

I am from Alaska. 63 degrees north. You are correct sir. I can certainly identify with the passion. Although, we do not have Sami people here, We have a lot of Alaskan natives whom have deep culture. It spans for centuries in the past living in the harshest of conditions. It's like Game of Thrones... Northerners are chiseled, carved out of ICE and STONE. You have to be strong and resilient.

Respect from Singapore. I earnestly believe that songs like this possess immense power; to the extent of putting an end to all the inhumane atrocities in our world today. How can one not be moved by such a beautiful tune? Think of all the killings and hatred in the Middle East. Imagine if ISIS in Syria had the chance to hear this, or rebels in Libya, or even Al-Qaeda in Yemen. What about conflicts between Russia and Ukraine rebels? Would they remain ever hardened after hearing so? Songs like this give you a sense of gratitude. To be thankful to be able to experience the wonderful world, that we humans collectively behold. The beauty of life on its own - waking up to a glorious sunset and coming back to the magnificent night sky. Thankful for the wonderful people around your life. And thankful to have the sensory capacity to savor the beauty of this song. Thank you Jon for sharing this marvel of a tune to the world.

Jon Henrik Fjällgren - Daniels Joik Do you go with me still, my dear friend, Although I no longer see you? Are you still here on earth, Just as you remain in my heart? I lie there and ponder, Its a deafly soundless around me. The tears break through and falls, In the memories of you. An angel that was left behind, Have now got its wings. Where do you fly now, my angel? Where do you fly now? Are you flying through the pearly gates, tell me? Or to the worlds end? Are you flying beside me? Or am I alone now? Where ever you are my friend. Where ever the path takes you. Promise me you'll wait there, Until we meet again. I hope you're happy now. As i was with you, The pain you have suffered, i hope its now gone. Soar free, my dear friend. You're free now. And until we meet again, Farewell, my angel. There are people with a voice as He who came to heal the earth. Long-forgotten ancient feelings awaken the soul and become one with the universe a few minutes. Simply you are able to open the floodgates'll make her better, because it empties out of all bitterness, and flows into the unit in place of remembering the true love. Blessings and love you Jon Henry, song deeply touched my heart.

This is the actual "lyrics" or story that's being told in his Jojk according to Jon Henrik himself and roughly translated by me: English: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Do you still walk with me, my dear friend, Though I no longer see you ? Are you still here on earth, Like your still in my heart? I lay here and ponder , It's a desolate silence around me . Tears breaks out and fall, Thinking about you . An angel who was forgotten here, Has now got his wings . Where do you fly now, my angel? Where do you fly now? Are you flying through the celestial gate? Or to the end of the world ? Are you flying next to me ? Or am I alone now ? Wherever you are, my friend. Wherever the road takes you. Promise that you wait there, Until I meet you . I hope you're happy now . Like I was with you. And the pain you have suffered , Is forgotten. Float freely , my dear friend. You are free now. And until we meet again , Farewell, my angel.

Fantastic.. powerful and full of emotion for the loss of his best friend. I have listened to this song over a dozen times and each time it brings me to tears. I have just downloaded his album from Spotify and the other songs are just as fantastic
So Beautiful! Brings tears to my eyes but puts my mentality to peace. I slept well last night after listening to this, sang it alot today and decided to listen to it again. Makes me wish I grew up in a Snowy Mountain, especially if these are the songs they come up with or the jojk they create. Very beautiful, such a sad story behind it though. #RIPDaniel

Heard this song once and ever since then the first note brings it all back. It impacted me so much and still gives me chills every time. I don't how much of this is hearing my ancestors language and how much is this man's incredible voice and him singing to his friend who has passed. I'm grateful he has shared it.

What an amazing song! I got chills and goose bumps. It has such a similarity to what I know of Native American Music. What's with all to goofy comments?

+Lisa Frideborg Eddy Yes, indeed. I relate very much to his music even though I do not understand the language, the emotion is Universal.

+Dano Pierce I know this is an old comment, but would like to respond to your question :) This is song is used on a website called Twitch.tv to callout a Girl Streamer that people think streams slutty because of example reasons (Showing booty, boobs, camel toe and vagina on stream which is not permitted on the website since its a gaming related website) So this song was used to make another song called LeaYouHoe. Hope this answers your question :)

I remember posting this song to reckful during the time my brother had a super hard time in his life and it hit me real hard because he never wanted help, he always wanted to get back on his feet alone.. it helped me through how i felt for him to share this song and see all the love & positivty. I noticed this song hit reckful emotionally and i really hope it didn't have anything to do with the suicidal😢I'm really scared something similar is going to happend to my brother without being able to help him. Reckful was the greatest of all time. He was fun, kind, inspiring, shared love & positivity. I miss him so much😭It hurts so bad man, fuck. Even though all of us didn't know him irl we had a strong connection to him. Rest in peace Byron, you were the best❤️❤️
