Joik is the vocal tradition by the Sami people(my folk group), the indiginous people of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. You dont joik to a person, an animal, a nature fenomena or even a rock or a three. You joik THE person, animal, nature phenomena, rock or three. The joik is kind of the sound of their spirit. As one other sais in the comments, joik is ancient, one of the oldest European vocal traditions. To get your joik is an honour given from one person to another that means something to you. The Sami have actually much in common to the american natives and folk groups in northern Russia. My theory is that the traditions of the sami and the american indians have followed the migration of one folk group to Scandinavia, and a different over the Bering Strait to Northern America . You should listen to Mari Boine from way up north in Norway, she is the most famous of the sami artists, actually one of the most famous indiginous artists anywhere. She is known all over the world for her music. Here she joiks the eagle kzfaq.info/get/bejne/odain5N0qqndm3U.html

They are speaking Swedish. But he is a Sami. Sami people are indigenous of Northern part of Sweden, Norway, Finland called Lappland. Kind of simular culture to native american people. A joik has no words.

Wow ! I had been trying to remember this song and finally came across it. At the end I was distracted by something and youtube queued your reaction up next, and I was like oh oh I know you from a few reactions I had seen, mainly Dimash. You always seemed to be most moved by music at the same places as I am. So it was a delight to see. I know this has happened once before and I commented. On reaction you had. Now,it could be hugely embarrassing if it was this same performance and I have already said the same exact thing, but at least you can see my sincerity and laugh.

I love that you like the Jojk, like previously commenting here it is a celebration. And Dimash including culture into his singing is also amazing, more singers from around the world should. I love that.

This is from Swedens Got Talent when Jon Henrik won singing a tribute in Sami joik to his friend Daniel who recently passed away. Sami people (also called Lap man) are the native people living in the north part of Sweden, Norway, and Finland herding reindeers and having their own language, religion and culture. If you want to listen more from this guy you should react to another live performance when he sing and joik to get her with a girl called Anina; A world full of battles found here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zr2Hndtmma3JgHk.html

"The lyrics “Hey o le ah no yo na no yo, Hey ah na no yo na no yo” that follow the initial chant seem to carry a sense of longing and a yearning for connection. It is as if Jon Henrik is reaching out to Daniel, trying to bridge the gap between the earthly realm and the spiritual world. Listening to “Daniel’s Joik,” I am reminded of the profound bond between friends, and the strength that can be found in memories and music. It serves as a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is always hope and the possibility of healing. The simplicity of the melody and the heartfelt emotion in Jon Henrik’s voice make this song a truly moving experience".

First I'd just like to say I've really been enjoying your videos. I have some recommendations for more Aurora reactions her whole performance at Nidarosdomen (Nidaros Cathedral in Norway) is worth watching but my picks would be: Little Boy In the Grass, Lucky, Walking In the Air (Cover) & It Happened Quiet (This was the 1st time this song had ever been performed live or otherwise). There are others songs from this performance that you've already reacted to on other videos so i haven't included them. Timestamps are in the description area. With these next two you get to appreciate Aurora's band as well. The Seed (Live for Like A Version) Across the Universe (The Beatles Cover) (Live for Like A Version) Also it's worth watching (tho you don't need to react to it) triple j's (Like A Version) interview with Aurora as it gives a good insight into her personality & sense of humor. P.S. I'm still getting used to commenting on youtube videos so I'll work on getting better at condensing any future comments .

He actually had a faint choir jojking with him right in the beginning, that nobody registered until afterwards. He believes that his loved ones who have passed on was with him right there.
