Can someone explain me what damascus means? Can't find definition or translate.

Damascus steel is a forging technique that originated from the antiquity where the best forged steel was from the city of Damas, the steel had a unic molecular lattice and the source materials as well as the technique made amazingly good steel for the time. Now people make "damascus" weapons or objects by stacking multiple layers of steel with different carbon percentage and folding it like croissant pastry. Folding it differently gives the damascus a different unique look (look up jellyroll or twisted damascus)

Hey Bro! 😃 Thank you so much 😊 Viking sword is great choice for first one 😉 the tool I used is called hand router plane but that is so unnecessary step, you can simply use gouge and you will get awesome results. And a tip for you.. use beech wood because it is the best for swords and other weapons, start with 8 mm stock and taper it down to 6 mm and then make a fuller (groove in the sword) I hope I helped a bit 😁 Moris
