Good point, How do we change it? We should forget about solutions, and focus on changes. I don't consider myself a racist, but a cultural-ist is a feature of my real world interactions, I can't deny the expression of, past the point of personal morals. Traversing past this point is a playwright, that doesn't play right. Moral panic generates our emotional connection that powers the economic charge for change. When we change this consistency, we'll be able to stretch moral panic cycles into longer time frames for our playwrights and enjoy life more.

The Rs have spent the last 50 years telling their supporters that there is no such thing a good governmental solution to anything. And that any solution the fed wants to impose is a secret method to enslave them. They laid the groundwork for their supports to believe that the only solution is giving all the power to a champion, a strong man, who will "be on their side". Who could possibly have guessed that the result would be a petty, narcissistic man-child stepping forward to make that nightmare a reality.

Do whatever you want with your groin. When you start fucking with my rights is when we have a problem. Liberals are the guilty party here for that. Y'all seem to think it's your God-given authority to to say no one gets to have firearms. I can hear the crying now. "The founding fathers meant muskets!" Ok, then they also mean just spoken word and printing press for freedom of speech. They also didn't count the Air Force when writing the 3rd amendment. So, the government can garrison airmen in your home right? I mean, aircraft didn't exist in the 1700s. Neither did the internet or semi-automatic firearms. If all the other 22 amendments get to update with technology, why doesn't the 2nd amendment? Explain it. Your irrational fear of an inanimate object doesn't matter in this context. Using only logic, explain why the 2nd amendment is left out of the updating for the times. I'll even wager real money. $1,000 to the person that makes a compelling argument for why the 2nd is left out of updates.

@@jmack619 Way too long to list. But here are some of Joe Biden's noteworthy achievements: 1. Passed the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package to increase investment in the national network of bridges and roads, airports, public transport and national broadband internet, as well as waterways and energy systems. 2. Helped get more than 500 million life-saving COVID-19 vaccinations in the arms of Americans through the American Rescue Plan. 3. Stopped a 30-year streak of federal inaction on gun violence by signing the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act that created enhanced background checks, closed the “boyfriend” loophole and provided funds for youth mental health. 4. Made a $369 billion investment in climate change, the largest in American history, through the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. 5. Ended the longest war in American history by pulling the troops out of Afghanistan. 6. Provided $10,000 to $20,000 in college debt relief to Americans with loans who make under $125,000 a year. 7. Cut child poverty in half through the American Rescue Plan. 8. Capped prescription drug prices at $2,000 per year for seniors on Medicare through the Inflation Reduction Act. 9. Passed the COVID-19 relief deal that provided payments of up to $1,400 to many struggling U.S. citizens while supporting renters and increasing unemployment benefits. 10. Achieved historically low unemployment rates after the pandemic caused them to skyrocket. 11. Imposed a 15% minimum corporate tax on some of the largest corporations in the country, ensuring that they pay their fair share, as part of the historic Inflation Reduction Act. 12. Recommitted America to the global fight against climate change by rejoining the Paris Agreement. 13. Strengthened the NATO alliance in support of Ukraine after the Russian invasion by endorsing the inclusion of world military powers Sweden and Finland. 14. Authorized the assassination of the Al Qaeda terrorist Ayman al-Zawahiri, who became head of the organization after the death of Osama bin Laden. 15. Gave Medicare the power to negotiate prescription drug prices through the Inflation Reduction Act while also reducing government health spending. 16. Held Vladimir Putin accountable for his invasion of Ukraine by imposing stiff economic sanctions. 17. Boosted the budget of the Internal Revenue Service by nearly $80 billion to reduce tax evasion and increase revenue. 18. Created more jobs in one year (6.6 million) than any other president in U.S. history. 19. Reduced healthcare premiums under the Affordable Care Act by $800 a year as part of the American Rescue Plan. 20. Signed the PACT Act to address service members’ exposure to burn pits and other toxins. 21. Signed the CHIPS and Science Act to strengthen American manufacturing and innovation. 22. Reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act through 2027. 23. Halted all federal executions after the previous administration reinstated them after a 17-year freeze.

Very well said. This is sadly true for just about every "issue" - not just the culture war stuff. As a society we never look at any issue with a long-term lens. No one (especially politicians) really cares what's going to happen in 25, 50, or 100+ years from now. Everything is short-term and it shows. I had a similar epiphany. In the US, we hear "the first African American " or "the first female" or "the first Asian American ". If our country was truly inclusive to everybody, no one would be a first of anything. The fact that we have to add the tag, "the first" shows that our inclusion is an exception and not the rule.

Which side is that? Censorship, calling on press outlets to be removed by members of congress. The state pushing political and social dogma onto parent's kids without their consent. That is the left issues going on. On the right they are against censorship, for freedom of the press and against the state pushing politcal and social dogma onto kids. Pushing political and social dogma onto kids is a literal play from the Nazi handbook. Google Hitler Youth. Slightly extreme example ... but exact same tactic.

Fareed's "you sound angry" charge says so much. As soon as Jon mentions racial injustice and our refusal to genuinely address it, he's angry. There is an implicit admission that the content of Jon's words are things to be angry about, even when delivered calmly and with a tongue-in-cheek chuckle. But since Fareed does not share the outrage the content of Jon's word's warrant, and is in fact made comfortable by said content, he zeros in on the anger in lieu of what warrants it.

I think you're wrong. I think Fareed is just 'going with the flow' of the interview. He's inviting explanation of reasons to be angry, that he himself cannot express, while he's a supposedly neutral news anchor. Is Fareed angry about racial injustice in the lower 48? I'd be shocked if he wasn't. Sometimes comedy can go to places that sober conversation cannot. Remember Robin Williams? That's why he was so loved. Here at home, we've been talking a lot about humanity's unfortunate 'attraction to distraction' as an underlying reason that forward momentum stalls. We're force-fed peripheral occurrences (like what Jon said about a one-off thing) and made to believe that is the primary issue instead of what it really is: the news bait du jour. There are major issues to be resolved but, until we decide as JFK said 'to do things because they are hard' the US will continue to stagnate. And, for the sake of the generations who will inherit our actions, let's hope we begin to truly face the real issues that need to be faced and work through them fully and to the benefit of all.

Jon's assessment of the issue is wonderfully topped off with his last comment of, "And for those of you watching at home, don't do drugs and stay in school," was (chef's kiss). A succinct way to show what the problem is with slapping a band-aid on the country's problems.

he has incredible communication skills and excels at disarming conservatives in a head to head. he’s able to lift the veil and undeniably show everyone how someone is either full of shit or has no clue what they’re talking about no one can deny his authenticity, I think he would clear absolutely anyone in a debate he really should consider running for office not just because he’s so excellent in communication and debate but also because he has outstanding values and principles

@@troycote4503 Trump has never won a debate in his life. He merely bulldozes over everybody else with infantile bluster tactics, which he's very good at, and which stupid people like yourself think reflects strength and intelligence. Actual policy ideas? Lucid thoughts? A basic grown-up vocabulary? He has zero. I would love to see him take on Stewart in a live debate - he'd be evicserated.
