I believe this is the most defining piece of art I’ve made so far. On a level of self-identity and acknowledging what lay in the roots of my foundation, I haven’t written or produced a song as meaningful as this one. My hope for this song is that it reveals who I am as an entity, but also opens the eyes of those who love their home enough to stand up for its’ respect.
CHaCHing is a song that sheds a light on the unspoken brutal history of the island of Guåhan (Guam) and it’s colonizers.
Jonah Hånom seeks not to insult any of these nations, but rather remind them who he is, where he’s from and what their ancestors did to his. He also wants the people of Guam to be more aware of this side of our history so they know that it’s not all rainbows and paradise.
Colonial injustices are still being enforced on the people Guam till this day and the only way they’ll have a say in determining the future of their island is if they stand together and make a decision.

LYRICS [Chorus] Cha Ching now the white man’s bringing all the customer Eyigi yan atan ha, åpaka’ hao låstima Toghe todu hamyo stand so me and you Can do everything the white man do if not better [Verse 1] Enigmatic entities, energies automatic aristocratic emphatic addict methamphetamines metaphors better dreams Reservoirs Letter schemes Let em remember me entering their clouded memories We’d pave roads in the ocean creating ties that we garnered Logistical fraudulence ain’t exist cos we bartered Y’all just burned your way up and dismissed that underground Growth system grows around So all your sails are upside down Gold chasers and clout diggers You chased us out without a doubt Take us out of our outriggers It’s outrageous Without wages your taxation and fake savior saved us with some biblical pages And then they kidnapped our babies cos it’s a “God sent mission” Rape our ladies and baptize the babies without permission Dock your ships on my shores I said welcome to eden We bedded you and fed you made sure everyone’s eating Double barrels to our heads divided stripped of our dignity Frame us “i los ladrones” yes, you stole our divinity We wanted metal not inbred diseases cows and chickens Sounds bad? Guess what homie the plot still thickens [Chorus] Cha Ching now the white man’s bringing all the customer Eyigi yan atan ha, åpaka’ hao låstima Toghe todu hamyo stand so me and you Can do everything the white man do if not better [Verse 2] Chillin ghetto street corner We learned to walk back and you forced us more forward Perverting innocent minds we loved land and sea and sky Now your smoke is getting higher I can barely see the sky Sliced our heads and propped it up on a stake Chemical warfare blamed on a brown tree snake Graffitied our aniti with your Spanish priests then Japanese And now somehow we’re owned by the land of the free Never had we asked for 10 thousand Chamorro casualties Due to these fellas thinking they’re better they got better things To deal with I guess it’d be easier to settle things By placing my island within your quarrels and enemies Because you’re privileged? Motherfuck your manifest destiny [Chorus] Cha Ching now the white man’s bringing all the customer Eyigi yan atan ha, åpaka’ hao låstima Toghe todu hamyo stand so me and you Can do everything the white man do if not better [Verse 3] My papa said they took the biggest man in the vill Chained him up then Jesus walked him to the top of the hill Let him loose then tied a noose upon a branch he’s resting Instead of watering his plants inside his ranch, no dressing Now that’s depressing and we just keep regressing without a figment of initiative you have my blessing to get the fuck off my land Don’t wanna hear no howdy You don’t know nothin bout me And I don’t fear no haole Rowdy I taotao tåno håtsa I kanai-mu Tano yan tasi Para bai fama’gåsi Saki hao cha’ mu Ni irensia-ku direchu ginen as yu’us tåta Este hu afitma i Chamorro militia hamyo [Chorus] Cha Ching now the white man’s bringing all the customer Eyigi yan atan ha, åpaka’ hao låstima Toghe todu hamyo stand so me and you Can do everything the white man do if not better Cha Ching now the white man’s bringing all the customer Eyigi yan atan ha, åpaka’ hao låstima Toghe todu hamyo stand so me and you Can do everything the white man do if not better

Not to be rude but what does the Philippines have to do with this song? I know maybe out history has similarities but my people are still dealing with this discrimination. Just wondering 🤔

@@natalievelasco2120 If you know the histories of Guam and Phillipines, as well as so many other countries are similar..Then you answered what this song has to do with them. We are all facing discrimination. But we can do everything the oppressive man can, if not better. Discrimination has been happening since they came to our islands, so it is not new. It is up to us to keep our culture and values alive. And do it in such a way we don't see the oppressive man within our actionz. Mabuhay🤙🏽the dark past is our lesson, a future where all our children can play, grow, and improve together is the motivation.

@@pinoyboy7192 Håfa Adai 🤙🏽 Where I'm coming from is...and I'm saying this with the upmost respect. I know that our history lines up but our present doesn't. There are also differences in our past that has effected my peoples present I can't say is the same for your people. (I only say my people and your people because we come from 2 different cultures. I am a Chamoru/Pacific Islander you are Filipino/Asian so please take no offense 🙏🏽 🤙🏽) I was just wondering why you felt you had to throw up your flag instead of just giving my people time to be proud 🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺 It's like Kanye West jumping on stage with Taylor Swift. They are all singers and been through struggles but when it's their time to be proud no one should come in and make it about them...that is all.

@@natalievelasco2120 I didn't feel the need to put up the Philippine flag. We are a country composed of hundreds of different tribes and languages. We are very far from a united country, I for one am not a fan of being called a Filipino. But the flag is more to me then just a country flag.. it is the flag that my family, that "my people" fought for. It is a symbol that so many have given up there famalies, stood up, and sacrificed there lives in order to defend there way of life. I didn't put it to try and take the spotlight and shine it on the Philippines or take The Chamorro people's pride, I put it there to show that the fight is still going on, and there are people still willing to fight and stand up regardless of who the injustices are happening too. There are many people who stand next to you, to your people, and to the movement. And with that symbol you know where we are at. I meant no disrespect, ive known of uncles and aunties going to Guam and making a better life for hundreds of years now. Plus, We are also Pacific Islanders too, I grew up catchin faat Uhu's and stay chillin with the Uso's, Palala's, and toko's. I understand you completely sistah, and I apologize if you see my view as disrespect. That symbol reminds me of my reasons to fight, of the truth that has been covered up to where it will never be found, and how many people have shared experiences with these acts of oppression. I do not identify myself with it, I identify as just another human in this world trying to enjoy our journey and maybe help others enjoy it along the way. And by all means put your flag that your family, your people fought for..and I will see it as the strength, unity, and support from our brothers and sisters.

Great work yawll! If you're from Guam remember you're not allowed to even see some of the nicest parts of it. The nicest beaches are all on bases lol. Even though I served 20 years as an active duty Army Paratrooper, I still think that's fucked. So go celebrate liberation, even though over a 1/3 of the island isn't even owned by its natives lol.

Great point being made in these lyrics. Seems like all the Pacific islands feel the same way. The saddest part is that the things being felt by the Islanders, is also being felt by the haoli , as the black side of our government takes all our land and freedom as well. And at the same time has kept the Islanders and the white man from standing up together as brothers.

Not really. Chamorros were the first original Austronesian’s that made the far voyages east from SE Asia, although the people from that area at that time didn’t necessarily possess the modern Asian features we see today. They then evolved into great physical specimens due to daily customarily lifestyle and diet. Sadly, the introduction of diseases and war brought by the Europeans reduced the Chamorro population over 90%. Filipinos and other foreign people weee then brought in to repopulate the work force to support the Spanish port. Those filipinos probably faced a lot prejudice (rightfully so) as they were assistants of the Spaniards. but eventually intermarried and readily took on the identity of Chamorro. The surnames Sablan, Pangelinan, and so much more have origins in Phillipines. Why so many people claim Chamorro but more than likely Filipino. It’s more of the mindset these days and for a long time. Then you have some Chamorros that look like Yapese, Samoan, etc. they probably contain that little drop of Chamorro Håga but it’s sooo strong. But like I said, it’s a mindset and at the end of the day, we’re all just people and will some day return to the earth. ❤
