He was a loose forward his whole life, this was only his 6th game on the wing and it's at test level against one of the best teams in the world. Incredible...

@@gooble69 When they defeated the Al Blacks in 1994 it was considered a massive upset, France were huge underdogs for the series (they in fact lost to Canada (!) just prior to arriving in NZ).

Except if it was behind him. Nisbo saying at one point about him being slow to turn and get back on defence, something that was always a weak point of his game. Interesting to see that players seemed to show a lot less respect for the sideline, something I've noticed in other games of this vintage. Nowadays there's continuous recycling of the ball and players don't get taken into touch when running the sideline as much, ensuring that supports can keep the ball in play. I think rugby's much better now for that reason- less stoppages.

Jonah Lomu was obviously one of the greatest players. But I still think it was reckless by the All Black selectors to have him debut on the wing at an international level. The All Blacks lost this series convincingly and it was the French who dominated out wide against some flawed defensive play. This blunder by the selectors could have ended a lesser players career before it started.
