I simply cannot hear enough of this guy. Surely the primo tenore of the new milennium. He has a lovely instrument, good technique with a precise vocal focus, and he looks good too. But it is the sound and the musicianship. Bravo!!!

Mit diesem Lied habe ich Jonas Kaufmann im ZDF-Adventskonzert 2008 kennengelernt und war begeistert. Von anderen Sängern kannte ich es nur auf Französisch und Englisch. Er sang zum ersten Mal auch den wunderbaren deutschen Text. Seitdem verlor ich Jonas nie mehr aus den Augen. Heute habe ich alle seine Aufnahmen. Meine Verehrung für ihn hört niemals auf. ❤️🎶🍀🍄🌹🌻

Someone pointed out that he is a ‘spinto’ tenor. If you look it up, they say spinto tenors have deeper voices than lyric tenors. I never realized there are different types of tenor voices. I think Kaufman is fantastic!

O voce de aur. Ascultând, l pe Jonas, înțeleg câte frumuseți ale artelor, ale naturii ni le a răpit aceasta pandemie. Acum tristețea, teama de covid inunda inimile. Îmi plăcea sa merg la spectacole, dar acum sunt departe de casa mea, de oamenii mei pt a fi aproape de copilul meu, sa ne ajutam la nevoie. Dor de zăpadă, de săniuș. A very fine rendition of the great Christmas anthem. He is one current singer to whom one can listen to after hearing Thill, Bjorling and Caruso! - the art of singing continues. i have great hopes for him.

Because of the strong sense of worship in both composition and general message here, it is very easy to 'overindulge' when singing it - to make it too heavy, dramatise too much, etc. Jonas gets it just right - exultant, jubilant, yet simple enough to remain fairly unadorned. Thanks for posting.

I really love his high rising notes at the end of the first two phrases in the front part of the second verse. His technique is like no other. This version is really my favorite for Christmas or anytime.

Judith Bereczky , wahrscheinlich haben alle Opernhäuser weltweit keine Ahnung, was halten Sie davon Alle zu informieren dass Kaufmann ein Bariton ist , folglich als Tenor eine Fehlbesetzung , Scala , Metropolitan usw. werden Ihnen ewig dankbar sein. Sie sind Ja Fan von Roy Black und Drafi Deutscher, das setzt ja voraus, Sie sind eine exzellente Expertin der menschlichen Stimme.
