Funny thing. Back in the early 1960's I attended an after hours Hebrew school in Canada. The rabbi teaching me the aleph-bet,a Lubavitcher, never even mentioned Israel and its centrality to Judaism and the Jewish people. Rarher,he told us how lucky we were to,in his words,"have these fine, democratic countries" where we could practise our faith in peace and tranquility. Apparently, no one ever informed the rabbi that Germany was one of those "fine, democratic countries" prior to 1933. The rabbi was an American, incidentally.

I don't cherish the state of Israel which is founded on ethnic/religious superiority. Ask yourself why American Jews think they have the right to go over to a foreign country become citizens of Israel when people whose parents or grandparents where born there don't have the similar claim. I support the land where I was born and enjoy equality rights with others who hold the same nationality. If you cherish the land then cherish the Palestinians who were ousted from their homes and have been denied the right to reestablish themselves. If you want to talk of forefathers then think of all of Abraham's descendants some of whom will identify as Palestinian.

@@user-uh7uu8yn8h No doubt many Jews of Ashkenazi descent also have European ancestors - they seem to forget that when referring to Palestinians as 'Arab'. @@jrutt2675Jews belong in Israel where they rightfully should be. It is Jews living outside of israel that need to come to Israel. In fact one of the good things about oct 7 and also the rise in antisemiticism outside of Israel is that you will now see many more Jews making aliyah. Such as myself who in several months will be living in Israel after 4 generations of my family being in Australia (they came to Australia from Iraq, and of course came to iraq after being exiled from israel. Finally full circle back to my homeland where we Jews belong).

Dear Jonathan, I’m a Dutch former journalism student. Noahide, but with an insatiable love for both Israel and Jewish teachings. Because of the many hostile and even hateful experiences I had to endure during both my years of study and one of two internships, following my careful journalistic efforts to shed a different light on both antisemitism and Israel, I got repulsed by the entire industry in my country. This is why I have never pursued a journalistic career since getting my degree. That didn’t stop me from researching. The biggest problem is Qatar. Through Al Jazeera, this country poisons entire civil societies. Everything the ‘Jewish lobby’ is accused of, Qatar actually does in tenfold. This included my college. Only once in my life, I have been a witness to actual lobbying. It wasn’t a Jewish organization. It was one of our teachers on behalf of Al Jazeera in Doha. They didn’t even hold such an event for a Dutch news agency! I was shocked. What I would like to ask you (and I’m very willing to work on this together), is to put your lights on Qatari lobbying. Because I believe these Islamists endanger all of us. Just like the Tsarist secret police, the KGB and the Nazis projected their own power fantasies on a ‘Jewish lobby,’ the world again is witness to this unfair factual inversion. As not Jewish lobbying, but Arab lobbying dominates Western media. We must address this.

@@user-uh7uu8yn8h I’m Dutch and your question doesn’t even surprise me, given your self-declared Arab identity. I vividly remember a fellow Dutch student who - like you - was obsessed with the plight of the Palestinians. However: that was a very thin layer of excuse. Because when I made a solid argument about Arab atrocities against Jews before the modern state of Israel was founded, he freaked out and asked me (literal translation from Dutch to English): ,,áre you Jewish?!!” You should have seen the piercing anger in his eyes when he asked that question. It’s the same look one of my journalism teachers gave me because I defended my Dutch spelling of the Jewish people. He wanted me to write ‘jewish people,’ because in Dutch no religion starts with a capital letter. That’s why our newspapers use both Jewish and jewish, depending on the context. Obviously my story wasn’t a halachic argument. It was about antisemitism. I told him: the dictionary tells you I’m right. This ‘teacher’ then gave me exactly the same look and raised his voice: ,,What people? It’s just a religion. There’s also not a Judea!” Well: I won’t forget nor forgive any of such individuals. That opened my eyes even more and strengthened my belief in the importance of trying to fight this. It also didn’t help that the guy who asked me in an accusing way if I was Jewish, started to call me ‘Mossad bootcamp’ in the following weeks I unfortunately had to share a classroom with him. You are displaying the same paranoid simplicity. It simply doesn’t fit in your skull that somebody who’s parents aren’t Jewish or Israeli genuinely stands up for the Jewish people. That’s sick. But because of people like you, I will only double my efforts to fight the ideas people like you envenom the world with, just like I will stand up to any Xtian or Muslim who badmouths Judaism. Bring it on: I will butcher your religion the second you attack Judaism. And leave you doubting your own convictions for the rest of your life. Don’t do it. My Noahide advantage is that I can go all out against the accusers. As I am not part of a Jewish community and grew up surrounded by both Xtians and Muslims. I know your minds. And the many fallacies of their respective faiths and claims. Don’t test me. You will regret it.

As far as I know, that is the only way to get your money to Israel. Inheritance is tricky, it has to go through probate. Still the banks won't deal with you. I used IsraTransfer, an independent transfer service, and still you had to have all your paper work in order. Otherwise, I know of no other way. Also, I'm not sure, but real estate as investment is no go, you have to reside in what you're purchasing, I'm not 100% on that. I wonder if you bought something way expansive and then sell it, could you keep the difference in Israel? I suspect the taxes must be extreme, but it would be something. Otherwise no luck Charlie, you have to leave it all behind for the goyim. The Sephardim know all about leaving it behind, also any that got out alive from the nazis. I'd love to hear Jonathon speak more about it. @ross6885

Great topic, regarding the issue of Galut, and Jews not wanting to make the leap towards Isreal. I have a question to the honorable rabbi bar khaim. Is it true that Yemeni jews of Taiman refuse to move to Israel when Ezra asked them to do so? I read that they refuse because they have foreseen the destruction of the second temple. Ezra apparently curse them. Are there sources that attest to this issue? Thank you

Rabbi. One of the greatest weaknesses of any polity, including and sometimes especially, that of Israel, is the accommodation of a segment of that polity whose fundamental aim, is the destruction of the nation which hosts it. Are we in American and elsewhere, to think of Jews as a hostile polity? Would that not be anti semitic? I suspect like me, you'd think so, and like me you'd be right. This is the underlying peril in your argument supporting the propagation of Israel as your only Homeland. It places, without malice, the remainder of the polities Jews inhabit at odds with the Jewish people in their countries. In my country, and in those of Europe, the same thing is being propagated on racial lines. What form of destructive and myopic ideology can portend more dire consequences than that which sets apart and then makes an enemy of the majority? Where in history has this ever led, but to bad ends? Israel must win this war and to that end it has my full support. To my mind, any American, much less American Jew, who stands opposed to that is both an enemy of Israel and of the United States. That said, and for the reasons I mentioned above, the encouragement, Jonathan's mandate, of Jews in America to leave America en masse, can have only one effect on the overwhelmingly supportive attitude toward Jews and Israel, and that is to erode. "God helps those who help themselves." Men too.

The Great American Songbook, the Jazz Standards that are taught in every Music school and college worldwide was mostly written by Jews. Tin Pan Alley and all the Broadway shows mostly written by Jews. These tunes are still popular today all over the world. The soundtrack of America America's only art form. They'll probably still kick us out.

Regards the Guardian article - it is an opinion piece which just happens to align with your own views. What attacks against Jews in the UK??? I wager these so called attacks are mostly criticisms of the Israeli state's current action - that is NOT anti-semitism! We've had actual attacks on Jews in the UK for decades - these are infrequent and mainly directed against working class Jews in orthodox communities, they are invariably carried out by right--wing thugs. Rarely, mentally ill people of fundamentalist Muslim or Evangelical backgrounds will verbally assault men wearing kippahs when they encounter them on public transport - this happens in London and Manchester. Jews are for the most part physically safe in the UK as I presume they are in the USA and Canada. Yes, people in the UK are angry with the state of Israel because of the military aggression against, and denial of basic amenities to, civilians. C'mon now, act like you have some sense and don't exaggerate the situation which is already horrendous.

Judah left Israel and violating the Oath of Abraham, he took Canaanite Women to wed , and he became a mixed and so cursed tribe of Israel, who has for the last 1950 years been banished from the Presence of God YHVH and cannot eat the Korban Passover Meal, because according to Moses, they are not Israel, but merely occupiers. Moses and Aaron are buried in Jordan. Judaism claims it begins on Mount Sinai in Arabia, and Islam began in Arabia "Mother of Religions'. but Christianity was borne on the streets of Jerusalem.

How is this for a plan B? Bulgaria. During the WWII and afterward, Jews have been appreciated--to my somewhat limited understanding. This country officially seeks to regain its numbers in population, that I know. Why not encourage the learning of the Bulgarian language there in Israel during the next few years? That way, if a migration is ever required from Israel to some other living place, then entrants into the country can communicate with Bulgarian citizens. I'm told that they are especially friendly towards those who have made the effort to learn their language.
