Jonathan Rennert has given recitals, concerts and broadcasts on four continents, as organist and conductor. Since 1979 he has been based in the City of London, at St Michael's Church, Cornhill, where he plays a historic organ (dating in part from 1684) and directs the professional choir, whose latest recording (of music composed for St Michael's by Vaughan Williams, Darke, Bax, Rhiannon Randle, Philip Moore and Jonathan Rennert) was recently released. He is the author of books on music; is an examiner for the Royal College of Organists and for ABRSM; was Master of the Musicians' Company; and is a Governor of the Royal Society of Musicians.
He studied on a foundation scholarship at the Royal College of Music, and an organ scholarship at St John's College, Cambridge. His teachers included Dame Gillian Weir, Dr George Guest, Richard Popplewell, John Barstow, William Lloyd Webber and David Robinson.
