At first I was not into mr Jonathan’s work but then I take a look a King Charles’ and Sir David’s painting more often and I realize they are great! They are the blend of realistic and abstract. I mean if he had painted them in realism style they would just ending up being the same as many portrait of Kings and nobility that people easily forget. The 2 painting capture the essence of what person is, butterfly in King Charles painting, green for the love of nature of Sir David’s. Better than grandeur that most old paintings of nobility trying to convey.

When I grew up some kids saw heroes in astronauts, a musical band or even some cartoon characters my hero was David Attenborough.

Jonathan Yeo has his own style, which brings realism to the face and hands and tends to put the clothed body into the background in a wash of a certain overall colour. The Guardian art critic HATES it! I am a bit ambivalent, but on the whole, I think, why not? In their own terms, they're fine works of art, and not caricatures or trite. If you don't like his work, fine.

Used to love his earlier work….his later stuff just leaves me cold and uninterested in seeing anymore.
