@@eamonhenning745 can't say for where they are, but I know where I live, anywhere a boat can get into is a "public waterway" The land around it can be private which would make it inaccessible, but the water is still A-okay. Assuming you're in the clear getting there.

Nitrodasnipa Z unless it’s a gated community, I live on a private lake in Oregon and it’s gated. But no one person owns the lake, all residents equally own the lake and have access to it. As long as he was invited by a homeowner in the community he’s fine fishing there. Some HoA’s have weird rules tho

@@s4fedriver That's true. A lot of the time there's weird laws regarding access to water too, Like being able to portage over private property in specific cases. I do a lot of kayak fishing so I've looked into laws for my state. There's some seriously interesting laws on the subject. Most of the time people are chill as long as you're not causing any trouble.

Nitrodasnipa Z yeah 100%. I just moved into our new house so I haven’t done much research, but a lot of homeowners use the water for kayaks, paddle boards and fishing/swimming. It looks like he already took care of the “no internal combustion motor” rule on the boat. So there’s a good chance he was invited by a homeowner to fish that lake and was informed of the basic rules. At least at our lake, one of the big rules is that you have to be accompanied by a homeowner at all times while using the lake. That lady probably would’ve shut her mouth about it had they had the homeowner with them, but again I’m not sure what the rules are with where he’s at.

Houses by rivers or lakes make the mistake of thinking they own the water. They don't own the water, just like i don't own the park my backyard extends onto. I didn't start out like this, but this is what the world has moulded me into. I'm legitimately surprized that they haven't banned fishing and hunting for private citizens yet. Go ahead... Laugh at that statement and think that I'm joking. They'll take it away! Just like they do EVERYTHING else. For example, it's nearly impossible to fish anywhere from a bank or overcrowded and overfished peir. Unless you have a boat, you are just casting line all day while catching NOTHING. So don't sit there and preach to me about letting them win. They already did. What's the point? Once again, as always, the poor guy gets nothing beacuse he can't afford The boat, taxes, fees, more fees, more taxes, or even a truck to pull the damn thing. It's a big club... And I was NEVER IN IT!

After a few rounds of that I would have just laid it out for her, “We said we weren’t messing with your swans, now please drop it, not another word about it.” And if she did again, Google maps the address, RAP line, angler harassment call right in front of her.

I think In California, it's public. we had an issue with people on malibu, because the beach is public but owners near the beach chase people away. as for swans, unless she raised them, the federal government would be concern she's feeding wild life like that.

I used some old white peoples land bridge yesterday when I went out to fish on two diffrent lakes and even crossed their property less than 5 meter away from their house. Reminds me of the time I fished a stream with my dog. A lady who lived across the road's dog ran up and tried to pick a fight with mine. I have a loud voice and tried to scare the dog away by yelling at it. I threw a stick between us and it to keep it from coming closer. Next thing I know, the dog;s owner is standing on the bridge accusing me of throwing rocks at her dog. "I'm just letting you know that the police are on their way," she said. "Good! I'll get to watch them ticket you for an unleashed mean dog!" Mind you, her house lot was both across the road and across the stream! She took her dog away, but my fishing was ruined. Can't enjoy fishing when you're angry. But if the cops were indeed on their way, it would look like I was "fleeing the scene". So I had to knock on her door and ask if she was bluffing or not. She said she hadn't call ed them. "All I wanted was to move to the country so my dog could run free!" she said. "Why didn't you buy 300 acres and put your house right in the middle of it?" Her front door was 50 feet from the road and within sight of the school! I told her I just wanted to fish, didn't want any trouble from anybody, and left it at that. Your story reminded me of that.
