Jon,you need to make a trip to the Indian River area of Michigan. There are two famous lakes there and the Michigan state record Smallmouth was taken from there a year or two ago. The Smallmouth weighed over 9 lbs

On the plecos situation, Game warden has been saying to keep em out the water. They're an invasive species to the lake and all the rio grande river. Supposedly you could get fined if they see you putting them back on the water .
