Great, looking forward to the German version. The base game already is my favourite roll/flip & write game. This is gonna lift it up even further by adding more theme and interesting shapes to draw.

Whats the differences between this and the original Cartographers game?

Thanks for another great tutorial! The base game has already become one of my favourites, so I’m really keen to get this! Do you know how the monsters will work in the solo game? In the base game there’s a very simple AI governing placement, but given that these monsters have additional affects (like the Gorgon), I’m wondering how that will work.

Andrew, you can download the Cartographers Heroes rulebook from the KS campaign page. At the moment, the Solo rules are exactly the same and no explanation is give on how to deal with effects like the Gorgon.

8:44 Is this a change that was made for Heroes? I've always played that if you can't place the chosen shape, you do a 1x1 square of the chosen terrain (not any terrain). The original rules seem to support that.

This is indeed a tiny rules change for Heroes. I asked the publisher about this very question when I first read the rules and they confirmed in Heroes it's any terrain, not just one of those listed on the card.

Corey, Thunderworks Games have updated the (original) rulebook for Cartographers to reflect this change. If you download the latest PDF rules from their website you will find this error has been corrected (on page 6), along with a similar change (on page 7) concerning Ruins.

It's better to fill in the coins instead of crossing them out, that way you can then cross them out after they've been filled when being spent if you're using the Skills expansion or the Afrill map pack.

That's is true, but for this video it seemed like a big cross was easier to see when recorded.

I doubt it. I played a couple hours of it back in 2018 on a friends copy and never went about trying to get my own copy.

It looks like spaces can be very cramped with symbols.

If your pencil is dull then I suppose that's true. I didn't have much trouble here, or when I've played with pens.

When you initially draw the Dragon on Green @10:00 I noticed you rotated the shape counter-clockwise to draw it in, but you also inverted it. Is that legal as long as you more or less make the same shape or was that a "Happy Accident" -Bob Ross ? I'm just new to the game so I'm just wondering if inverting the shapes are legal.

You can rotate and/or invert :)
