It seems awkward and annoying to turn the carnivore traight card after it is already tucked and aligned behind the other cards. I would prefer to put a black cube or similar on the card to show that it has been used.

This is the first Evolution game that might entice me. The others I’ve tried, but I just never really wanted to dive deeper. This seems pretty smooth and elegant, relatively quick playing, and casual enough to play with multiple gamer types. Guess I’ll have to keep an eye on this one.

Hmmm... there are some interesting changes, but I still think I much prefer Evolution:Climate over this. I'm usually a fan of making games more elegant via multi-use cards (e.g. San Juan from Puerto Rico) but in this case I feel like it adds less than it does in those other examples. I prefer food scoring I think, and I do _not_ like placing traits on other people's animals. I do like the environment cards though, they're my favorite part of this version.

You have a point. I think regular Evolution with food scoring is a lot better, since you can still bank points in that game, while for New World, it's based on how long you can keep your animals alive and they're the ones that give you the points. That's what I mentioned in my comment just a few moments ago.

Another great entry in the evolution system. It's clearly a versatile system, and I'm always interested to see what they do to change it up.

the card design in the game baffles me, why is the text of what the card does places at the bottom where it hidden when you stack them? why not just put it right under the trait so you wont spend half the game picking up your card to read the rules text?

I was just about to comment the same, it's such a missed opportunity. Why wouldn't they want to give players the option to use the reference text on the card itself, it would make no difference for the players that want to tuck it properly, but it would make a huge difference for those who wants easy to reference abilities

Something I wish that made for the game is that at the end of the round, you score points equal to the number of the food cubes taken by your animal that round, and at the end of the game, you would also score points based on the amount of cards left on your tableau. This could balance outs points a bit, since if you have an unlucky round with no cards in the tableau left at the end of that round, you now have to worry about how you will catch up on points for the remaining X rounds, since you can build a big family of animals, only for them to be removed due to going hungry, eaten by predicators, etc. It makes me think by regular "Evolution" lets you scores points based on food tokens taken by your creatures, and cards left in your tableau at the end of the game. Anyway, thanks for showing the tutorial at least. It was nice to see the game in action, even though some people like me might be thinking about some design choices the curator might have done with the rules on the game.

It's been a while since I played the other Evolution, but what you are describing sounds like the key difference between these two games. I actually like that this game doesn't have the "banked points" mechanic because it separates it from the other version and makes it a more "all or nothing" cutthroat affair. I can certainly see why some would prefer the other way though, and I suppose the other version of the game from NorthStar would probably be better for them.

All of the nice art just gets tucked. I was interested until I saw how it gets laid out. Just as well!

surely the closest clockwise would be to the right of the card... I would treat the card that ate would be 12 so to the right of it would be 1 and to the left would be 11?

I initially thought the same way. But if you're playing with other people the animals will be placed in a circle. So you can use it if an animal of the player on your right side dies and your animal is the next one with scavager clockwise. So your animal is always on 6 if that makes sense

How does metamorphosis work exactly? Add 1 trait from your hand. But this card is activated in the feeding phase so there should be no more card in your hand.

Does extinction not count as death? I was wondering if the swamp should have a new food token because of that..

I always consider the center of the "clock" to be the center of the table for my videos since that's how it usually is when playing games around a table with other people. Because of this, clockwise would be to the left (since the 7 is to the left of a 6 on a clock).
