When I heard this song 1st time I put it on repeat and lay on the sofa all night without turning it off. I still love it it is the most extraordinary song for reasons that I have no idea.

This was the first time I heard of Joni Mitchell. It's my first and favorite of her songs. I love the whole "Chalk Mark In A Rainstorm" album! Part of the soundtrack of my life.

An unusual song for sure but gets right under your skin and into your very soul. Always loved Joni Mitchell since my childhood. So many awesome songs and memories thanks to her. What a great way to end the 80s! Having Peter Gabriel in this duet only enhanced the very sound of this song. Cool video too!

Being a early Joni fan I have been listening to all her phases. Each one connected to a time in my life from 1969 on. Lost loves, mystical journeys,wandering road trips.... life 101... graduating to phD level. Thanks for the assistance along the way .

A few days ago, I stumbled with a small record store in Buenos Aires. It had a wonderful collection of albums from the 70s and 80s. I ended up talking with the owner for hours, jumping from prog rock to folk, then to jazz. This man was a musical encyclopedia (I felt proud whenever I was able to keep up with the inventory of his evocations). I had picked 'Dog Eat Dog' by Joni; he put it on the turntable and the speakers blasted with 'Fiction'. Before, I had told him that I had several Genesis albums and, with complicity, he mentioned this song. Embarrassed, I told him that I didn't know it (though I love both Peter Gabriel and Joni). He paused the record and, with a fatherly smile, googled the song; I heard it and immediately loved it! As beautiful and moving as it can get with these two sensitive monsters. Lovely video BTW!

The LP, "Chalk Mark In A Rainstorm" was made during the 80's Joni was sort of overlooked on this one, big mistake, This was a pairing on various tracks with different top artists during the time. If you missed it, listen now. Like all of her music, it's truly timeless. An artist, who coincidentally does music....

It's an incredible song, I used to listen to this some years ago, and now that I´ve found it here, it still feels like those times. In my opinion, a perfect combination of sounds, words and images. I don't know if somebody will agree, but only a few songs/videos can achieve this. If you asked me, I could only think of one song that can paralell this feeling: "In a lifetime", by Bono and Enya...
