If Jesus hadn't decided to set me free, I wouldn't be alive today. And though this simple comment does nothing more than echo a thanks, I do want to thank Him. Because my scars now from hurting myself then are proof of where I once was and what He has done.

I haven't cut in 3 months, but one of my friends committed suicide today and I was tempted. Usually I can't listen to songs about cutting because it makes me want to do it more! I assumed that this one would be the same, but I clicked on it anyways. I was tempted during the first verse, but just as I got out my razor, it got to the bridge where it talks about Jesus's scars, and I put it down. Thank God I no longer have to hide my scars, and thank God because of this song I won't have new ones

This is so very true! This song touched my heart more than I can say. After over 40 years of self harm, I am free. There is only one who set me free from my pain and shame that had built up inside for so many years. I no longer hide in silence and shame for I have a Savior that walks with me and lives within me. My pastor was talking about the 'corridor of adversity' last night and it made my brain click onto this thought, adversity reveals what we believe about God, ourselves and others. I know this. I have been there. I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly that this world has to throw at me, and I walk with a spiritual limp or two as a result of the emotional wounds I've received. However because of Jesus I am no longer ashamed of my past as He has redeemed my life from the pit state in which it was and raised me to a place where I have a job and people who get me, even better than I get myself. Adversity isn't something we enjoy but it does produce character and it stretches us for the more that God wants to do in our lives. Don't search for it but neither run from it. Allow yourself to rest on God and He will do the rest. This I promise you.

I've been dealing with self-harming issues for a few months and this really hit me. I realized how much it has affected my relationship with my friends/boyfriend, and God as well. There are so many days that I just feel worthless, not good enough, and that I just can't do anything right. This song just gave me chills, as if God just scraped the surface to something big. Feels like I woke up from a shallow relationship with God. I'm ready to dive into something deeper with Him. Pray for me.

I started self harming the summer before my 10th grade year in highschool, and just recently told God enough was enough. I love him more. It may not be huge, but this Sunday, Praise God will be two months SI free. It's been a struggle, but Jesus is worth it.

I just got back from the Elevate Arizona concert/festival and one of the first songs Jonny sung was this one. It really touched me, after his performance I got to go talk to him and my mom talked to him about my story and how i got my scars. Of course I was terrified, the secret you hide for years is now getting told to everyone! But with God's grace and helping hand I am taking the steps to recovering and learning to not be ashamed of my scars, but to let them make me stronger, and let God make his mark in my life through it. For all of you out there who struggle with these problems, self harm of any sort, depression, anxiety, I promise you, it will get better with God. Never give up hope, never stop believing.

I love this song. It's not just about cutting or the man missing his wife, but about the fact that thanks to Jesus we don't have to deal with all the scars of sin. His blood washing them away. Just stumbled upon this song today. I was that girl with her hands clinging to her sleeves. God rescued me in my pain. It’s been 30 years and I still have those scars. Because of them, I can comfort others and share where my hope comes from.

This year has been horrible for me. My fiance was killed in a flash flood driving home from work on a road he didn't know. I went off the deep end in the following months and completely rebelled against God because I was angry at him. I was recently involved in a three car accident where my family said that if they hadn't heard me say I was okay, they could have thought I died by how devastated my car was. I sustained the worse of the injuries which is a blessing, but I walked away with a broken back, and multiple lacerations on my arm and face. I have probably 30 scars over them. I have scar removal cream, but the accident was my wake up call to get back on the right path and to trust God. I love my scars and the testimony they bring, and I am so glad I don't have to hide scars.

I think this song is totally amazing. I used to cut and still struggle with the thoughts that I need to hurt myself but I always turn to Jesus. I just want to say to anyone who does feel like they need to cut... don't be embarrassed. You have gone through something that no one can ever understand. Except one person. Jesus. wow.....sooo moving..for being a person who has struggled with cutting for almost 5 years..this is huge! I've had to deal with trying to hide my scars, but like it says "praise God we don't have to hide scars!!".....and "He rose up with scars on his hands and his feet so by them we are healed"...scars don't define who we are, but show where we have been! (found that in a book i believe) This is a GREAT song!

I want to encourage all of you that have cut, or who still cut. I will pray for you! This song was a huge help after i cut the first time... i have cut 6 times total. The first was nov 2012 to feb 2013. I didn't tell my mom, and i was so scared. It was so hard to stop. I used a safety pin, because my mom knew i was struggling, and had locked everything up. I don't remember dates, but i cut 5 more times. I sharpened a pair of kid scissors, i used a scrap booking tool, and knife, and the last times i found something that worked, it felt "the best." I used an exacto blade. it got so bad that they had to superglue the cuts together. I was scared, because every time it just got worse. I knew something had to change. I have not cut in 4 months, but it is still a struggle. I know God is with me, and i have to turn to him when i get too stressed... This song reminded me that I AM NOT a cutter, i simply have cut. it doesn't define me, but God's love and forgiveness does.

I just heard this song for the first time. Praise God His scars are covering ours! Very nice. I'm 24 and have been self harming since I was in what I think was 6th grade. I'm a biter. I've been biting the same place for a very long time. Also a scratcher and occasional hair puller and face slapper. Long story short, I have a piled up scar of bite marks and it's embarassing. Haven't done it in a few weeks though...so PRAISE GOD

I've cut many times and it felt like the only thing I could do to ease the pain. I felt so alone, no one could understand. But I was wrong. There is ALWAYS someone there. Whether its a best friend or family or Jesus. I regret it because now I will always have those scars. But it's made me stronger and showed me I can overcome anything that comes at me. Don't ever feel like you're alone, there is someone out there that loves and cares for you.

We had three Christian science professors come and speak at our Campus Crusade meeting and when a student would ask a question about why something is the way that it is, he would explain it in scientific terms but then point up to the sky and say "but most importantly because the creator made it so"

I've been going trough a lot of emotional and physical issues lately, with family. And to deal with the loneliness and pain, I cut. My teacher suggested I listen to this song, so I looked it up and as I watched it I realized that cutting is not the answer, it may temporarily relieve the pain, but in the long run, it's just going to hurt me more.

I've been a cutter for 30 years. I've fought so many ways to recover. Then in November of 2012 God found me and lifted me out of addiction. I can proudly say I haven't cut in six months and that's a long time for me. My testimony and message is that there is hope for anyone. Jesus saves.
