Hanna-Barbera was originally formed as a division of MGM in 1944 by Tom and Jerry creators and directors; William "Bill" Hanna & Joseph "Joe" Barbera and live-action director George Sidney as "H-B Enterprises" in order to produce sponsored films and later television commercials. In 1955, Bill and Joe later became the co-heads of the MGM animation department after producer Fred Quimby retired. After MGM shut down its animation studio in 1957, H-B Enterprises became Hanna and Barbera's full-time job. The same year, H-B struck a deal with Columbia Pictures Corporation to syndicate the cartoons on television in conjunction with Columbia's television division Screen Gems until 1966 and co-produced several cartoons in the early 1970s until 1974 and by Columbia Pictures Television from 1974-1975. The company was renamed to "Hanna-Barbera Productions" in 1959 and was later acquired by Taft Broadcasting in 1967; Taft was later renamed to Great American Broadcasting in 1987 after a buyout; it would then be renamed to Citicasters in 1993 before finally being absorbed into Jacor Communications in 1997, who in turn was acquired by ClearChannel Communications (now iHeart Media) in 1999. In 1991, the studio was purchased by Turner Broadcasting, initially with help from the Apollo Investment Group. Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera both went into semi-retirement, yet continued to serve as ceremonial figureheads for the studio. The same year, the company was renamed to "H-B Production Co." and renamed again as "Hanna-Barbera Cartoons, Inc." in 1993. In 1992, Turner launched the Cartoon Network, which had been built around reruns from the Hanna-Barbera and the Turner Entertainment Co. cartoon libraries (pre-1986 MGM, pre-1950 WB, and a.a.p. cartoons). The same year in 1994, Turner turned Hanna-Barbera towards primarily producing new material for its Cartoon Network when Cartoon Network Studios was organized as a division of Hanna-Barbera Cartoons, Inc. On October 10, 1996, Turner was bought out by Time Warner. With William Hanna's death in 2001, Hanna-Barbera was folded into Warner Bros. Animation, and Cartoon Network Studios (a subsidiary of Hanna-Barbera formed in 1994) became a separate company and assumed production of Cartoon Network's output. Joe Barbera remained with Warner Bros. Animation until his death in 2006. Today, Hanna-Barbera still survives as an in-name-only unit of Warner Bros. Animation for distribution and marketing of properties and productions associated with Hanna-Barbera's "classic" works. However, not all cartoons co-produced by Hanna-Barbera are owned by Time Warner such as the following: Jeannie and The Partridge Family 2200 A.D. (Sony Pictures Television), The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang, Laverne & Shirley in the Army, Amigo and Friends, The Little Rascals: The Animated Series, and the 1970 Harlem Globetrotters cartoon (CBS Television Studios/CBS Television Distribution), Gravedale High (NBCUniversal Television), Capitol Critters (20th Century Fox Television), Pink Panther and Sons, The Adventures of Sinbad Jr., and Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures (first season co-produced by H-B and the second season was co-produced by DiC, MGM Television), and most of the theatrical library. Warner Bros. has no kind of rights to any of these series listed.

45:37 I remember when they aired "Meet the Reaper" on Cartoon Planet in 2012, they aired the end credits, which had, up to that point, never been aired, as it had been aired as part of "Grim & Evil" and later "The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy", and therefore had the end credits of those series. When I saw this logo pop up, it was eye-opening, and I immediately went to the Billy & Mandy Wiki to add this information. As I would later learn, the pilot was actually the final (new) production to bear the Hanna-Barbera name.

7th, 14th, and 15th logo are personally my favorite. 7th because the swirling star just hits right for older cartoons given the sound is just the right kind of dated. But the 14th and 15th logos are what I like more due to the fact that both perfectly encapsulate the line up of cartoons they've created since the 50s, with the 15th being a perfect representation of the new cartoons at the time.

The swirling star was one of the best logos created. Next to that would be the accordion rainbow HB logo. The Jetson's doorbell swirl star is another fave. Logos today are just not as awesome as they once were. A really good example is the Lorimar writing that had that elegant electric piano playing (this was used after Dallas in the late 1970s). One of my all time favorite logos was the ITC logo. Three elongated diamonds (red green and blue) spun with a great fanfare, and would always let me know it was time for The Muppet Show (yaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee).

4:40-4:45 are from episodes of "Help! It's the Hair Bear Bunch!" I think the character designs kinda creeped me out a bit as a kid. 3:50 is most likely The Perils of Penelope Pitstop. I'm not clear on if that show came before or after Wacky Races. 3:54-3:56 are from The Cattanooga Cats. 4:27 is probably The Harlem Globetrotters. Or whatever its title was. 4:30 is Josie and the Pussycats. 3:46 Either Wacky Races or Dastardly and Muttley. More likely the former. 4:10 I stumbled on this one while trying to identify others, it's from Where's Huddles. 4:19 Motormouse and Autocat 4:56 Wait 'Till Your Father Gets Home. 4:47 is The Funky Phantom. 5:03 Is New Scooby-Doo Movies, followed by Sealab 2020. 3:38 is The Abbot and Costello Show.

At first, Walt Disney created Mickey Mouse, as for Warner Bros., they created Bugs Bunny, and then for Hanna-Barbera, they created Yogi Bear and its series, as well as some of the characters I grew up and loved. Sure they got Disney World for Disney, and then the Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast, and lots of Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park campgrounds in the US for Hanna-Barbera, although there are some located in Georgia and in Alabama. William Hanna and Joseph Barbera were like the Walt Disney of cartoon animations.

Hanna-Barbera Productions was founded in 1957, not 1944 (which is when their predecessor called the MGM Cartoon Studio was in business, the MGM Cartoon Studio being the animation studio that made Tom and Jerry). That means the time line is 1957-2001, 2017-present or 2022 (which the one used in The Jetsons and WWE: Robo-Wrestlemania! & the Wacky Races reboot was also used in Yabba-Dabba Dinosaurs and hopefully Bedrock).

I'm probably one of the only one who points this out, but I don't really like how you included the logo captures that are recorded with a camcorder or phone. That kinda bothers me and it's my only complaint about these logo histories, seeing as how there are better quality captures shown for the majority of the logo history. Other than that nitpick, what a wide variety of nostalgia from this well-known animation studio. The earliest I recall seeing the animation studio in terms of logos was the 1997 one when I was watching Dexter's Laboratory on Cartoon Network. The sounds used to scare me when I was a child, for some strange reason. As I grew older, it has brung me back nostalgic vibes, the same with other Hanna-Barbera logos from the majority of the shows I remember watching on Boomerang, Cartoon Network, on VHS or on DVD. Other than the phone captures, this is a very good logo history video.
