While one might definitely say that's because of the beat, others say it's finally something Dutch. The biggest pre of this song is that it contains 'Gabber-style' music. You can't get more Dutch than that. And we're VERY proud to show it to the world, cuz our 90's was majestic. 🤘🏻

43 years old, I was a 90's hardcore lover so this song feels so damn good. Joost shows us "older people" that not everybody forgot how beautiful life can be, even when you went through enough sh*t. These days it's all about conspiracies, genders, left or right and what so ever. It looks like people forget to live their life and enjoy laughing, loving and dancing. Joost did not forget! I hope this song brings back a smile to the sour people.

Eurovision is an emotional affair for Joost. As a child, he watched it together with his parents. "Parents, one day I'm going to be on Eurovision stage" and he made it. Unfortunately, his parents died when he was a child. This song is dedicated to his late father. That's why it's called EUROPAPA. The part in the song “I'm in Germany, but I'm so alone. I'm in Italy, but I still feel the pain, etc.", I feel it's directed at his parents... Joost loved his parents and still does. His lyrics are mostly very deep, but the melody is happy, danceable and the clips of his song are presented in a fun way. Joost himself said that his musical style is diverse. When Joost was asked what song they should listen to in order to understand you. He answered Florida 2009 (it's about his parents) and Wachtmuziek (it's about mental health). I recommend listening to them. You have to translate it, because he sings in Dutch.

A lot of people who dislike it in the first place seem to like it after a few listens and when you know the story behind it you even want him to win only for the emotional part of it. No music is more Dutch than this ❤ at the time I was not immediately into happy hardcore but the 90s were so different... Much happier than today. Anything that reminds you of happy times is Awesome. The party is on the day of Eurovision and will be on the big square around our famous church the Oldehove. There will be a big screen where we all can watch the Eurovision and support Joost. The gouverment is expecting around 10.000 people and it will be a big party with artists, and even if he didn't get the finals(but he will 😉) the party still goes on, we are proud to have such a great and nice artist who is comming from our city, he deserves this great party and our support. It is magical. I have heard it over 100 times and it gets better every time. It strikes a chord with everyone that experienced trauma. He is a living legend. At the same time there's folks that haven't experienced trauma and don't want to see the story. For Dutchies it is like sushi, you either love it or hate it. I'm Dutch and I'm not really a lover of the Eurovision contest(s). My kids and wife however (I'm a man, don't let the name fool you here) arehuge fans and follow everything. When they first called me to come and listen and look (mainly look), I was playing a tank game online and was loathe to come down for this. But after hearing it I was pleasantly surprised. No, I do not honestly believe this will win the Eurovision contest, because there is also "politics" to consider, but it certainly deserves an honourable mention.

Okay, finally I know now what some people have against this song. I heard that there were real haters, but could not find why. And still. I don't understand them. As if you really listen to the lyrics, there is also a lot some could see as critique about the EU. The part of being lonely wherever he goes. The sign he made singing Euro can be seen as the money sign. He sings the until I die part, with a lot of aggression. See? It's not hard to find conspiracy. And please lets not go the extreme nationalistic way. We in Europe have to know better, knowing our past. The song is happy. It's for a lot of people nostalgic.
