Same here. I don't listen to the anything but Burial Plot.. and Last Night.. No begrudging or anything but I REFUSE TO CHANGE. Haha.. I love multi-riff non-repeating heavy songs, which is why I like death metal and jazz..classical..

I always find it weird when bands say that they are "better at writing songs, now". I saw a clip where Keith Buckley rates his ETID albums, and Last Night In Town, and Hot Damn! are the albums he likes the least. To me, they're the albums that I like the MOST! 50 riffs in a song sounds pretty good to me. As a listener it keeps me on my toes, and it means that on my millionth listen, I STILL find new things in there. And, as a result, I continue to go back to it, over and over. 3 riff songs are throw-away. Once you have listened a few times, you know the song, inside-out, and you stop listening. Where is the fun in that? So, from a technical aspect, they might be "better" (or shall we say, "more economical", as far as content goes?) at writing songs, but, that doesn't mean that the songs, themselves, are any better. From a listener's perspective, they become less interesting when there is less in them.

I can see why anyone would still ice Hot Damn as the best ETID album, as it has nearly every great element this band has shown in their entire career with an extremely consistent track list, but their last two records pack just as much of a punch with far more unique riffs and songwriting that really makes them stand out as a band without relying on novelty southern Metalcore, the biggest weakness of early ETID pre Hot Damn is that it sounds too much like peers and while it’s badass it isn’t as distinct a style as they owned in Hot Damn / Parts Unknown / Low Teens

@@2000Doriyas agreed. They really hit something different with from parts unknown and I’m really anxious to hear this new record whenever it will come out. To speak on hot damn, that album really set a bomb off upon its release and influenced a lot of people and bands. It’s my favorite because it just makes me smile when listening to it because it is what it is. While it is generally the fan favorite, they have escalated into really good songwriters.

I'm not trolling here, but Break Stuff is a perfect example of a 2-3 riff song that can keep the attention of the listener, even a decade later. But otherwise you're right, about how bands say this latest album is the best/their favorite. If time weren't a factor and you put the albums back-to-back-to-back, LNIT and Hot Damn would get much more respect from the band.
