Jordan Cox - Datsun 1200 IPRA Wakefield Park

My mate Simon Phillips from Vic Dyno Hire has this little Datsun 1200 Turbo that runs in Improved Proudction Under 2 litre. It runs a lightly modified A12 engine through a 36mm restricted turbo.
We took it to Wakefield Park for a Trackschool Trackday and found ourselves punching out some quick lap times and mixing it with some high powered luxury cars. One of the few RWD cars I’ve driven and I thought it was awesome!
Best lap time in this video was a 1.03.80. I've left the the hotlap rolling from start to finish of the outing so you can get an insight into how we are tuning the car up. Probably didn't use the right terminology at the end but you see what I’m getting at.

I watched the last session Jordan at the track, that brown C4 Corvette has 650hp and this little Datsun was pulling away on the straights - awesome drive as it was cold, wet and windy day - something the video does not show!

Jordan mate, im glad I found your channel. I hope to one day find a way to race Improved Production in Qld, but until that happens, i find watching IP (and especially your racing) really keeps my fires stoked. There is so much to admire about your driving style mate. Your tenacity in hunting down and picking off opponents 😵 your ability to communicate what the car is saying to you to your lead wrench 👌 and your sheer will and desire to keep pushing the limits of your driving skill and your car... all of which truly shows mate. I was heartbroken watching your breakdown on Bathurst run, especially since you were decimating the field mate. My heart still sinks when i rewatch it. But i rewatch it often, as its some of the best driving Ive seen in a really long time. It gives the hopefuls of the world an example to aspire to. Also, i can completely understand your choice of car. light, nimble, RWD, old school. you're really driving hard in something like that... a true drivers machine. Lucky that dent in the side of the Lambo popped out easy!..... That was my only nervous moment watching from pit lane...... anyway, i'd better get back out to the shed to work on getting the rear to stick!!!

What he is saying is that the car was understeering. Meaning the car was requiring too much steering input from entry to Apex. This is apparent when the car begins to oversteer when Mr. Cox gets back to the throttle just past Apex of the corner. Because he was talking about roll center, I assume he is looking at two possible adjustments. He pointed to back of car and said "raise". This, in my mind means he will either be raising the roll center in the rear of the car at the axle or increasing shock absorber compression value at the rear.

Brake bias adjuster, car runs a twin master cylinder pedal box arrangement.
