Personally, yes. In the eyes of everyone else, no. Simon's stance never wavered and he was never proven wrong so he didn't lose. She did hit the jackpot though.

Simon himself pretty much admitted he got it wrong (I mean they deleted the whole "deader than a dead in deadland" video so...lol) If he doesn't like the ownership model, that's up to him and it's a fair opinion, but when it came to the takeover yeah he was proven wrong

Simon concedes some small points, giving the opponent rope, then he uses those points against them later in the argument to win the big points and therefore the whole argument. The opponent is beaten at this stage. If they disagree with him, they contradict what they said earlier. This is why everybody he faces off against is reduced to a stuttering idiot by the end. They have nowhere to go. The very definition of playing chess when those around you are playing checkers.

@@Justlookin958 it's quite obvious she's trying to use media, fan and local political pressure so that the EPL feels forced into a corner As Simon says the issue is for the premier league not the government. She knows they lose if it goes to a vote now with EPL board, so she tries to change the dynamics of the situation. It's all fair in love and war so no problem with that. But Jordan is doing his job to point it out.

Heard this live. I love the way Staveley gets all the "good cop" softball questions tossed to her from Jim Shite at the start, whilst Simon sits there quietly and patiently like a coiled benzedrine puff adder under a rock. Then once it comes to some cross-examination from Simon, she's left floundering and flapping around like a carp on a deck. She could barely string a sentence together. Brutal.

@@TheAlphaDingo Well, it still wouldn't have happened without the surprising cave-in from the PL over the whole BeOut piracy thing. One suspects some oily palms were greased in pushing THAT all through. Interesting that the PL chairman Gary Hoffman resigned yesterday over the whole fiasco. The whole thing stinks like a smoked haddock behind a radiator.

@@davidrider2264 absolutely right and the PL decided to fall on their swords instead of running the risk of letting a high profile and public arbitration hearing play out. Lots of dirty laundry they want to keep out of the public eye not only from this takeover but the bungled super league attempt. As you say, once the piracy issue was sorted in the takeover, it was only a matter of time and the pressure of the big 6, BeIN and others to block the deal ultimately faded away. Rightly or wrongly, despite all the noise about human rights, it was a non issue in concluding the deal. This matter won't be finished either with the unreasonable attempts of some other clubs to block sponsorship and commercial deals. Expect it to go to the courts again and for the resistance to be broken as it's essentially anti competition, collusion and corruption by some clubs and powerbrokers in a competitive environment to try and keep their competitive advantage. This only further strengthens the need for independent review, reform and overhaul - can't have a league body that only acts in the interests or beck and call of selected member clubs (i.e. the big 6). The PL body are rightly being scrutinised for their poor performance as an administrator and should be replaced immediately. Richard Masters should be the next clown sacked - hopefully in good time!

Seen a lot of comments about how Staveley avoided answering questions etc...I'm a NUFC fan, a pretty big one at that and I can tell you she's done more interviews and spoken highly of the club in 4 weeks than Mike Ashley has in 15 years. Simon Jordan does speak sense, however this isn't the first time he's had a go at Amanda, as she states right at the start that he's not "pro deal". My point is, Jordan knows what he's doing and she obviously can't talk about the process in detail and so she had to give short answers and be careful with her words. That woman has worked tirelessly for the best part of 2 years to save us fans from the absolute disaster that is Mike Ashley's Newcastle...I for one, can't wait for the answers. the money aspect sounds amazing yeah, however I just want Amanda in charge, the Saudi's are just a bonus.

It's hilarious to watch from the outside. Jordan owns Staveley here. The fans go hundreds of miles to protest to the government that have already said that they can't do anything to change it. Then to top it off the Newcastle fans were perplexed as to why the pointless protest didn't get any media coverage besides this disaster of an interview. Maybe the media will care if you do it all over again next week 🤣

So weird how she operates. Comes on to put out her side of the takeover, then has to ‘jump off the call’ when it was time to face questions. Stops cuts simon short saying she doesn’t want ‘a spitting fight’ but then spends 2min having a go at him. Looks to me she cant deal with any questioning that may be negative against her or the takeover so no wonder the premier league were having a hard time with her

From what i heard, she has a point. When the 14 clubs vote against an action, and should a club be able to take the matter down Arbitration route, the matter would then be reviewed within specific guidelines to establish whether the Club has a case. Mr Jordon is good, but at times he struggles to accept when he is corrected. Even Andros Townsend had him on a point re paying out a player's contract !

Simon's point is an odd one. He acknowledges that the lack of transparency is archaic. And he's also acknowledged in the past that the powers that be at the Premier League are predisposed to resist change. But he then questions why Amanda and co are challenging that lack of transparency now, when they had 20 years to do so. The answer is obvious: because Amanda's consortium see an obstacle to their purchase and want to remove it. Nothing contentious there, surely. I get that he doesn't like the "rabble rousing" and the leveraging of fans, but all football owners do stuff like that. Newcastle fans aren't naive. If anything, they're leveraging this issue to get what their want, which is Ashley out. Simon's a contrarian and that makes money in these popualrist times. But my god does he start some daft fights.

For all those who said Simon won the argument, time tells us Amanda was correct in her assertion, it was the Premier league board which sanctioned the move. Was there government pressure I suspect so. Afterall the government would look rather ridiculous that it allows us to export arms, train Saudi military and counter terrorism, but not let them own a premier league club!
