In this episode, Jordan opened the doors of hospitable people to me and allowed me to try delicious local dishes.
Hike along the Jordan Trail - day 7
Stage: Borma - Rmeimeen
Distance: 32km
Total distance: 181m
It was a very long day and the longest distance on the Jordan Trail so far. When hiking in Poland, 30 km is not a problem for me, here in this heat I wonder how I went through it.
When I left the small forest in which I stayed in the morning, the landscape began to change very quickly. There was less and less vegetation, and thus the shadow ended. There was a lot of shade missing all day. All the time I was walking in the open area and the heat was pouring from the sky. By the time I got to King Talal Dam, I was almost out of water. Passing such a large body of water, I could not take a drop from it. In addition, a car drove up to me and the men who were inside instructed me that I could not take any pictures and of course not even approach the tank. So I went on and when I was passing the dam and was almost entering the path I was supposed to climb up, another car drove up. As it turned out later, it was another Angel of the Trail.
The guy knew Russian very well because he studied in Moscow, so our communication was perfect 😊
He asked if I needed anything and I really needed water. He packed me into the car and drove me down the dam to the power plant where I got fresh, very cool water from the dispenser. A moment later we went on rounds during which my savior was setting up some devices. It is interesting that a moment ago I was forbidden to take pictures and now I could visit an object that is not intended for sightseeing. I compared this power plant to the one I know, i.e. to the pumped-storage power plant in Żydów, and although this one works on a slightly different principle, there were some similarities. The apparatus and all automation used here looked like from a few eras ago, but everything worked 😊
After the tour of the power plant, my new friend drove me back to the same place he had picked me up from and our paths parted. I started the climb in full sun, here the trail was a bit difficult to find again, but I managed to reach the road and by the end of the day there were no problems with navigation. There were no shops or water sources along the way so I was really grateful for this adventure at the power plant because I would have had a serious problem with hydration.
Before Rmeimeen I started looking for accommodation. I was hoping to pitch a tent by the waterfall, but it was very dirty there and there was no place for a tent. So I set off sharply up the hill and passing drivers gave me pomegranates, which in this area are supposedly the best in Jordan.
I managed to find accommodation at the brother of the guardian of this section of the trail. He is a very nice person and he cooks very well.
Jordan Trail day 8
Stage: Rmeimeen - As-Salt
Distance: 19km
Total distance: 200m
Yesterday was the longest distance, today is the shortest episode for a change 😁
We sat down yesterday with my host. There was no end to the conversations and when we initially analyzed various important and less important topics, it was time to rest. It was after 3 pm 😅
Of course, in the morning we continued talking and, over a delicious breakfast, we entered deeper levels of consciousness. And sober 😁
Mohamed is a great cook and I especially liked the simplest dishes. For example fried eggs with onions and potatoes. Plus spices... Brilliant 😍 and of course olives served in different ways. It also turned out that Muhammad's mother is Syrian, so in his kitchen there are dishes from that country. Pride 🥰
Because it was getting late, I decided that today I will walk a shorter section and in a sense I will close the 2nd stage of the Jordan Trail trek. Tomorrow I will start the 3rd which is divided into 4 days.
I left the trail at 2 pm 😅
Today's episode wasn't very interesting. The beginning is looking for a path on a fairly steep approach and then about 10km of asphalt and the city.
Medina Al-Salt, on the other hand, is very atmospheric and I'm going to take some shots for the film tomorrow. Old buildings, narrow streets... I like it
