It's very expensive not necesarily because of its toughness, but because of its v90 speed/class which is confirmed by looking at the back of the card and finding two rows of contacts instead of only one.

Uhs-ii has two rows. V60 AND V90 cards are both uhs-iii.

Lol no they’re expensive because of the gimmick. There’s plenty of uhs ii v90 cards that are significantly cheaper. Sandisk is roughly the same speed and is like $30-$60 cheaper. Pretty much every other card sells for cheaper than sandisk as well.

If you can afford it, by the tough card. I had a sand disk for 5 years and it is starting to chip and break. meanwhile the tough cars that I have had for 3 years is in mint conditions with just a little wear on the sticker. You may ask why or how. each time I shoot I use the sd card reader con my laptop to transfer the files. I prefer this method instead of connecting the camera over usb because over time cables and usb ports can also get damaged and its cheaper to replace an sd card.

here in Singapore, tough cards are nearly the same price with differences being $3-$5, so id just go for tough cards

Sony tough card corrupted my files then I got a second one and it did the same thing! I use angelbird cards now and never had an issue not ONCE!

I broke several SD cards by inserting them into my 3D printer controller, it's fiddly and they get bent a little every time and eventually they just fall apart. I'm going to make my printer networked eventually so i don't need to carry cards to it ever again, but i wish i knew of these tough cards. Normal cards recover from water OK though as well

Thanks for the video ! 🙏🏼☺️ I haven't found cheaper option with this much speed on my market. Using it with C70 and it is very reliable. If anyone knows cheaper reliable brand with that speed - would be much appreciated. 🙏🏼☺️

I just ordered the Sabrent v90 to try it. I think I tried must of the sd cards around and can’t see a big difference. Just the build quality. Lexar, Sony, Sandisk etc. I use anything

I would say That the Sony tough cards are just necessary for important information

but the sony ones are faster becaus of the pcie thats these extra pins for but most cardreader cant use these feature. but some of these card are able of 624MB/s. but if your lucky your laptop pc have a build in fullspec sdcard reader

Im personally a massive fan of the SanDisk Extreme Pro line. Never had a single issue with them. That said, I’m not too hard on my gear but I mean … not sure the Sony Tough is worth the $ 😂

Yeah, I'm sure the Tough cards are more durable but in 15 years I've never been in a situation where I'd actually need that kind of durability 🤷🏻‍♂️ Most of my cards are almost half the price and indeed, also never had an issue.

What SD card would you recommend for a sony a7iv/a7siii? I thought i bought a fast one with the San Disk Extreme pro 200mb/s, but it's not letting me shoot in the s&q mode because the card isnt good enough

@@JorisHermans Thanks for the quick reply Joris! Aha It's a V30 card... I just replaced my a6400 for an a7iv, although I remembered from one of your earlier videos that you had an a7siii and assumed that whatever card you recommended would be suitable for the a7iv too 😀So far I haven't had issues with photography and burst shots and I've been shooting video in XAVC S 4k format (not HS 4K). I'd like to get the most out of my camera though and future proof the card, so will be looking for cards that carry the v90 symbol. Your reply sent me looking in the right direction, so thanks again, abosulte legend still commenting on people's questions at 100k subs!

@@louiswithcamera You need to buy a v90 card. You cann use all codecs on the Sony a7 iv atleast of one, what i would never recommend, becouse of the high sizes of files.

All that though part it's just marketing, even the shittiest SD card it's UV resistant, x-ray resistant, heat and cold resistant, microwave resistant idno they are unbreakable, unless you cut them in a half with a pair of scissors

You skip the most important part : more pins mean higher speed so you can record at higher bitrates.
