I think it's important that Jose impacted others on the platform of a baseball field. He was kind and genuine not only to other baseball players but to the fans, no matter who they were. It didn't matter if he was pitching, batting, fielding, or looking on even though wasn't going to get the decision at the end of the game. He respected the game and had a blast. That's how baseball is supposed to be played and I wish more players took notice. When I think of Jose, I seldomly think of his blazing 4seam fastball or his beautiful sweeping curveball. I think of his smile and how he never overlooked the young fan in the crowd who wasn't making the money of a baseball player. He didn't care about fame, ever. He just wanted to play the game, simple as that. So I say, Thank you Jose. You left a profound impact on me by who you were as a human being. Your soul will live on. Forever immortal.

I will never forget José...a hero to the entire Cuban community. my heart breaks for his family and the entire world that lost a beautiful soul, a wonderful, loving and compassionate human being...baseball aside we lost a lovely person. Baseball is a game played by young men who should have many years ahead of them after baseball, its just a job and we forget that these guys are human sometimes...being an ace pitcher is secondary to being a good person, and above all else; José was a good person.

Ive seen this video numerous times over the years. Still cant believe hes gone. His death literally changed baseball. The entire landscape would be dofferent if he was still here. Marlins probably wouldve gotten a ring or at least made a run Marcel Ozuna, Christian Yelich, Stanton, Realmuto and him woudlve been a force when they all hit their prime

I would just like to have the chance to share how Jose Fernandez changed my life. I'm a 18 year old kid here in the Philippines that got offered a scholarship to play in one of the biggest universities here. This guy showed me how fun it is to be out there on the mound mowing people down. This guy showed me the feeling of contentment when you strike guys out. I used to throw high 70s by my junior year, no college scouts would look at how I pitch. They just see me as someone who goes to a private school but isn't talented. Then after training and reconstructing my pitching motion (which i modeled after this guy), I started throwing mid 80s and sometimes touching 90. Got offered to play UAAP ball (which is like d1 in the states). Man this guy showed me a lot. And still up to this day, I can't believe he is gone. Thanks for everything man. When I make it to the bigs, I'll rock your number. JF16 🔥

Fernandez was really on his way to becoming something really special in baseball. Unfortunately we'll never know what could have been. He made a poor choice and unfortunately paid the ultimate price but for the short time he played baseball he was such a gem to watch. He made it look so effortless and easy. And I don't even think he was close to reaching his peak. A real loss to the game.

ThePunisher_Rich In terms of K/9 Fernandez was well beyond Kershaw. Kershaw pitched more innings but Fernandez last year struck out 253/182.1 for a K/9 rate of 12.49 which was freaking ridiculous. Just because someone has more strikeouts doesnt make them a better strikeout pitcher. I know thats confusing but there are the facts
@richurro207 жыл бұрын
Fight The Clock Kershaw struck out 300 last year. First to do that since 2002. Secondly, someone who has more strikeouts does make them a better strikeout pitcher. Duh.

Faced him in HS and it was like nothing I had ever ever seen. What made him good was his “slurve” that looked like a fastball and his demeanor on the mound. This combination would “freeze” batters when they couldn’t afford to be frozen. He could also stroke well at bay so he was just an all around threat.
