Join me in an adventure of a lifetime.
I spend 10 days alone with 10 items in a backpack, I live/camp on an Island, have a canoe to travel in search of food.
I live on fish and whatever small reserves I had.
I encounter Eagles, loons, and beaver, see sign of Black Bear, Moose, and many other animals
I have epic sunsets, strong camp vibes, and lots of time to think and film.
I build a semi permanent shelter, chair, tripod, carve a spoon, and have endless camp chores.
This is the first video in a mini series, I have a ton of footage.
The next video in the series will be out soon.
I hope you all enjoy 10 Days, 10 Items ; Alone on an Island in the Canadian Wilderness.

OK Folks, here it is, Episode 1 of The New Mini Series "10 Days, 10 Items; Alone on an Island in the Canadian Wilderness" I plan on 4 or 5 Episodes, released relatively quickly with a bonus, "Full Gear Rundown Video" Covering everything I brought, gear,"food" and filming equipment. I really hope you all like this mini series, I put a lot of time, effort and resources into traveling there, living outside for 10 days, filming and producing this. Please leave comments, like, or dislike, and subscribe if you enjoy the video. I'd love to reach 1 million subscribers, that is my next milestone. Thanks a ton to all of you, I get to do what I love for a living, and it would not be possible without you. :)

The Patriotic Woodsman Netflix might be a huge thing over in Americe and Canada, but for most parts of the rest of the World it's rather on the expensive side. Even compared to other streaming services. Why would you pay 15€/month for netflix when you can get for example amazon prime for 30€/year? What i'm trying to say is that he would loose many many viewers if he'd exclusively do his videos for netflix or any other service one has to pay for. Maybe he would get more money but as he has said in previous videos joe and his family are doing just fine. His wife doesnt even have to go to work. Not everybody needs to be a billionaire.

This was the first video I ever watched of Joe Robinet. I was staying at my friend's dad's house, we would stay up all night and watch videos. He showed me this channel and this was the video he showed me. He fell asleep around midnight, but I stayed up till 6-7 am watching this 10 days, 10 items series. His dad passed away November 8th of 2019. That man was an amazing father, and an amazing human being. I'm glad I got to spend as much time as I did with him. Now going back and watching this series again after so long brings back some great memories. My friend moved back in with his dad 3 years prior, my other friend would come over and the 3 of us would hang out and play music at his dad's house. I have so many great memories in that house in those 3 years. His dad was funny, and was a really chill dude in general. Thanks for being there.

Bear actually stayed in hotels overnight. They would film in the woods usually no further than 2 miles from town. The things they don't tell you. All of those guys are full of shit. They are not really experts everywhere they go. They have people that gather then script the knowledge. But, Joe here, is in his comfort zone. He really knows the Canadian bush. He doesn't need a script. He is just genuine. When I said those guys. I was referring to pretty much all the Discovery and NatGeo fakers. It's all about the money and not about the content with them.

I think camping and survival is important in life, because you learn a lot of things and it's a really cool activity. You're close to nature and you're doing well. It's really cool that you're becoming famous showing us how you go camping and giving us advice. I think it's cool to transform your activity, your job or your passion into a career. Joe ive watched all your videos and love all of them so much. Ive never met you and probably wont but you make me and all your viewers feel like family. Your wife, emerald, scout, and yourself all seem like family. I live in fresno california and i love camping, fishing, and backpacking with my sons ages 7 and 13. I have nothing negative at all to say about your videos at all. Your a wonderful husband, father, and man from what i see. I first learned of you from alone and then saw your videos and i have watched some of your videos 3 or 4 times. Honestly my favorite videos are the ones where you drink beer and spirits and cook bomb ass steaks, the ones where you build shelters, and the way which you teach all your skills from A to Z. I also love watching your videos with crazy Doug outdoors and your other vids with self reliance shawn and kyle which i can tell he is smart and you two carry on like brothers constantly verbally bashing eachother. Your one lucky man joe. Im looking forward to the next chapters of your 10 item 10 day in the north. Northern lights were awsome and you went to bed at almost midnight with no booze. Lol i think the northern lights got the best of you that night. Anyways sorry for the long comment but i just have so much to say to you. Your a awsome guy and anyone who has you as a friend is one lucky guy. Keep it up you lucky skinny tough guy and drink some good old fashioned american booze on one of your videos. Vanilla ice cream 2 scoops in a bowl covered with 2 tablespoons of jackdaniles when your at home after dinner. My secret. Try it.

It’s not a tv show or a book. But his personality makes it interesting enough that I really can just lay there for an hour and a half and see what he gets up to. If I sleep, super. Hi Joe, its just below 0 Celsius here in the South of the Netherlands. 10am. Just woke up 2 hrs ago and I'm in my hammock at a friends private little forest. Was able to make coffee without leaving my hammock. Just chilling now. Hang my phone on my ridgeline inside the hammock and watching the 2nd half of your trip. You just put your socks off.. but I decides to put them on. Chilly! Not looking forward to pack everything later.. its cold and wet... but thats part of the adventure and challenge. Greetings from the Netherlands! P.S. consider buying a telescopic fire blowpipe. Cheap and lightweight. It helps to blow with force in a fire to lite it. Saw a friend doing that and works amazing!

What an epic adventure I'm very envious. I only wish I could go on a 10-day Adventure like this someday. You are absolutely right about it being personal development character building experience. The complexity of filming all of this should not go unrecognized I can only imagine how many camera batteries you had or how you were able to charge them for the whole trip that's crazy! My only gripe is the saw you were using I know you are more of a traditionalist but if only I could get a silky sugowaza in your hands!

Survival fishing can be done very effectively with night lines as we call them. Fished on the bottom and tethered to a lissom bendy-branch so anything hooked is less likely to break free. No rod, no reel. And strong line, no finesse needed. As a backup to your more fun rod-fishing. So you can eat... Too easy to find you’ve hit a spell when the fish are deep and hard to locate with standard cast and retrieve. Minnows and small trout are good deadbaits. Also when in my canoe I trail a set of flies behind the boat. Far less likely to hang up on sunken branches and the like. Fly fishing in the early morning and evening with a fly rod is very, very effective. Moreso than dragging spinners and spoons around, too. With our native trout, that is. (Brown trout.)

I spent a week in Canada with my grandfather on a boat in the inner lakes. It was probably one of the most memorable fishing trips I had ever been on, I look back on it fondly. The quietness and solitude was amazing, seeing the views and sounds in these videos takes me back to that week. I started watching these a couple years back and lost track, going back through them now and enjoying it immensely. Now I want to plan another visit to those same lakes again some 20 years later, but without my grandfather, he passed last year unexpectedly.

A tip about the fishing. make the fish more tired by letting it swim some more under water. have the break on the roll quite loose, so it can swim away, but u can put some pressure by waving it in... then after a while when it seems tired, u can adjust the break harder and wave it in all the way. lift it steady but guick into the boat :) Sry if my english isn't to good !

I was sceptical about that video at first but it is so relatable, you have a crude charming way and it is interesting in its "boringness" (not that it is boring in itself but those are long days where you talk to yourself so it should be boring... But it probably won't be). Thank you for sharing your experience!
