ThankYou so much for your educational videos. I have a hobby 16 and 18 and purchased a C2 Viper. I travel to Sarasota Florida and work with Robbie Daniels. And it was wonderful. But to watch your videos and how to race and setup and prepare are so insightful, I feel like you are a pro on the wire encouraging me. I wish I could be as confidant and humble as you. Thanks so much for your help. Do you have in person instructions? Robert

Hi Robert, I'm glad that the videos are hitting the spot! I teach people in person out here at Wildwind in Greece. The main thing to build confidence is time on the water, do go out in too much wind too soon, if you spend enough time on the water, you and your boat become as one!

Excellent info. The boom also weighs a lot and it was gone. Taller and also fatter people and taller fatter people like yours truly will have it easier. Maybe being in the right orientation to the wind is an important part as well.

I have an easy right elastic line on my Hobie 16. I am 5’7”. When we capsized recently, I was unable to reach the line lying on top of the top hull because of my height. Any suggestions?

The boomless mainsail is a bad working sail in my opinion. I've tested it for whole week and there was no way to have the traveller work fine, we had always to push it with the feet. Without the boom the sheet does't work at the right angle.... much better to use a reefed standard main or, at the extreme, tha have an old mainsail cut and reshaped at the base without the part that it would have been reefed. I think I'll look for a solution like that, keeping the boom with a reduced sail without the hassle of reefing as a secon main for using gennaker in high wind conditions. Have you ever thought of a solution like this?

yes, cutting down a sail to have it permanently in reefed size would be a great idea (if you have a sail to sacrifice) You're right about the traveller - the angle is wrong so it makes it really sticky. With the mainsheet you can of course change the cleating angle.
