No offense but I have read another in depth review comparing your beloved D4 to the 1DX with 85mm lenses both your 1.4 and the 1.2. Two Nikon fan boys in fact and neither mentioned noise nor lack of speed. It will not allow me to post the link here. Either way both make great stuff and I was just busting chops a bit I really respect and admire your review.It's very nice of you to do such an in depth review.You have an opinion and that's fine.Neither Nikon or Canon are going anywhere.

Best review of the D4. In hands review and explaining clearly its features. Got mine last monday and going to “shoot” some bald eagles in Maryland. Will the Nikkor 200-500mm be a good lens for it? I used it with my D800 and it is great. SHARP AS FCK!

My question for you...in your professional opinion will this lens quickly become my go to lens... Aligning with my photography interest?

Terrific camera! Is there any oil on the sensor problem with the D4? I used to shoot with a D3 and the oil problem was every bit as bad as those you read about with the D600. Since then I have been very hesitant to buy any more Nikon cameras.

Knowing that the type of photography most often determines the kind of camera one purchases, I could use a little help with this question: For someone who, with the exception of macrophotography, shoots a variety of subjects (from landscape to studio and a lot else in between, and who chooses natural light over all), if one could ultimately choose between a Nikon D800 or the D4s, which would be the better (all around) choice? I've read a lot about both cameras, I've watched many video reviews, and I understand their similarities and differences; and now, I'd like some help deciding.

I'm not pro but proud owner of D4 :-) it is going to be heavy but taking it with me for upcoming trip to Japan.

It's a great review! Just a quick question here: how do you find the autofocus rate with the 24-70mm on D4 vs on D800? I found my 24-70mm on D4 is a bit slower. Is that normal? (Not "instant" as mentioned in your 24-70mm review video with a D800 body)

I have the nikon D4 and the camera works fine it just when I put the flash it has a Daley and driving me crazy because when I want to take a picture fast I can't because of the Daley that the camera has with the flash. A quick q if i may ....when you attach a 70-200 2.8 to your d4(if still using..its 2020 now) how much mount play are you getting...im getting an 1/8th inch...the specialist nikon shop in London states that is 'normal' but another tog on youtube says that sounds a bit extreme...appreciate your view mate. Dave..England.

I have been shooting for over 15 years. I am aware that the 85mm is a portrait lens. I am not going to sacrifice speed of auto focus, and silence for a 1/3 stop more light. I have used canon for over 5 years prior to this and they make great stuff, however the 1.4G Nikkor is a better lens in many ways. I feel its also sharper, and on a D800E makes it flawless in every way.

Its ok. It did make noise it sounded like a canon 50mm 1.8. It just didnt feel as fast or smooth as the 85mm 1.4G nikkor.

Definitely D4. I have done comparisons, 1.2 to 1.4 is very little if any difference. The D4 is the best lowlight DSLR ever made. The Nikkor 85mm focus speed is 3 times faster than the 85mm canon 1.2. The canon L primes are noisy and slow, nikkors are fast and silent. I would say D4 and Nikkor prime all the way. D4 is amazing.

I dont know i used to like a lot y review ut i have to say that y always speak good about nikon ( im a nikon guy ) in a moment were to me nikon its not doing well .. for example the d 800 wich i own .. 36 mpx are way to much .. the camera got focus issue since the second week i got the camera and live view problems.. i was thinking was just my camera but looking online i found out i wasnt the only one to have this problem .. now after the d600 thing again nikon did something that really make me mad .. im thinking of sell everything and buy a canon ( wich is a super camera with no issue at all - i cecked oline - with terrific high iso and super build quality ) if i sell the camerta im going to loose a lot of money

Its a great camera. If you want something bad enough you can achieve it.

Dude do you use gel in your hair?If so what kind that stuff is super stiff?So are you saying a D4 has better low light capability than a D3s?DXO didn't see it that way and that's what everyone goes by these days.The D4 is a monster and in my opinion has just the right amount of pixels.One thing that never gets mentioned is it has a good jpeg engine. I am so jealous of you being able to shoot that camera on a regular basis.I personally think a 5D III with Magic lantern will smoke that in video.

Uh I thought an 85mm was a portrait lens? Didn't think a portrait lens was suppose to focus so quickly? It focuses slowly do to it's 1.2 aperture it helps it to be more accurate. L lenses are noisy? They're only the most popular lenses among pros buddy. There's more to a lens than auto focus speed a noise which it makes. A 1DX and a D4 are so close you really can't be wrong with either. If you're a pro Canon is still top dog with CPS. Looks like you live in NY so Melville isn't too far.

i remember time when they make Nikon D1X with 5 mp ...for something more than 5000$.....now my 300$ nikon is like 5 times beter in any way....same thing will be with this monster,just need to wait 10 years xD

Secondly I have a 5D III and am unhappy with Canon because they're moving so strongly over to video.I prefer stills.I also do not appreciate Canons prices comparatively to Nikon however their equipment has been more reliable and less problematic than Nikons as of late.Wow you've been a pro for 15 years!You don't look a day past 30.D4 is great but with the right lens it can not keep up with a 1DX in terms of capture rate.Then again the 1DX is more expensive.No argument though D4 is a MONSTER!!!

I did not like the colors. It's not a revolutionary camera. Hdr in Jpeg? Crop modus into 12 MP? Huge camera again? It is not what we want. We want IBIS. We want IQ I mean natural colors. We want excellent live view not average live view, we want a very good viewing screen (also in daylight we want to see details). We want a touch-screen, we want so much more. This is average, that's what it is. Still I am going to buy one because I know I can get the max out of this ugly machine.
