Thank for the review; I'm adding this to my TBR list. I am a new subscriber and I appreciate your book choices as well as your erudite, yet relatable, commentary. You give interesting, distilled reviews without spoilers. Speaking of Jewish writers, I'm currently reading the works of Saul Bellow.

I am so glad that you enjoyed this review and I think it is a great idea to add Chaim Potok to your TBR and especially this book in particular. My Name is Asher Lev was also a really good book and our discussion for this book was released a few weeks ago. Thank you so much for your kind words about my reviews and the way I review them. It really gives me the motivation to read and review. I have read three of Saul Bellow's novels: Seize the Day, The Adventures of Augie March, and Herzog. I have a review of Augie March on this channel, while we have a discussion about Herzog. How many of Bellow's works have you read thus far? Thank YOU for checking out this video!

It is definitely worth reading and I am inclined to pick up more from Potok. Ari from this channel is Jewish and I have learned a lot about the religion from him and his parents.

I am so glad that I picked up Chaim Potok's work, for it is enlightening, but at the same time is written so that anyone can approach and get something out of their reading experience. I especially learned about the relationship between Orthodox and Chasidic Jewish people and differences among them.

This was an amazing book, I second what some of the other comments said, the Promise was incredible also, really taught me a lot about Judaism and even about history, great books.

It certainly was! I would like to read more by Chaim Potok, for he does a great job informing me the reader about Judaism and doing so on such a solid canvas. His characters are also very well fleshed out.

The Chosen. The Promise. My Name is Asher Lev. The Gift of Asher Lev. I love all four of these novels by Chaim Potok. In fact, I have The Gift of Asher Lev with me in my motel room now, about to finish it for the fifth or sixth time.

I read The Chosen and My Name is Asher Lev, the former I reviewed in this video, while the latter I discussed with four others during one of our panel discussions. I would like to read more of what Potok has written, for he has provided me with a greater understanding about Hasidism and Orthodox Judaism. I hope you enjoy The Gift of Asher Lev for the fifth or sixth time!

@@LiteraryGladiators no the thing I was looking for was or is not a book it is a new series the first season is done and it is free to watch on an app called the Chosen from vidangle studios. I (Dan) only seen one review on it. So here on our channel we are going to review it. I was just hoping to see what others thought of it. It is about the stories of those who encountered Jesus. It's a new take on it. And my opinion it is a cool show so far. Maybe if you get a chance check us out and most importantly check out the show. If you need more info on it I'll be happy to send you a link.

I will be sure to check out your channel and may look into the show when I get the opportunity. Yeah this is a completely different religion, but a great book that provides readers more information about the different kinds of Judaism (in particular Hasidism and Orthodox Judaism).
