well it took him only a couple of tries. To check it out first is very normal... he played it technically perfect then. Still you can see both come from different genres musically :)

He can play that in his sleep.. He is faking it to get people to practice these simple licks and get likes!!!!

@alexjackson8841 2 жыл бұрын
@@mikealbert1146 I hope you're joking but if you aren't then you've missed the entire point of the video. Everyone knows that in terms of technique Martin can play anything, but he's a jazz/fusion player and Josh is teaching him (and us) how to make a blues solo really speak and mean something rather than just sounding like technical noodling. And I'm not saying that I'm on Martin's level by any means but you can really hear the difference between his playing, and someone like Josh or Kirk Fletchers playing when it's in a blues context.

@@alexjackson8841 i totally agree with you. I think the comment you were responding to was exactly what they were speaking about in the beginning of their conversation. It’s the ignorance of someone who hasn’t played with great blues players.

I remember seeing Josh a bunch of times when he was 12 or so at Cheers in Ft. Lauderdale. He would join the local blues band just to jam and I remember saying to my friends, imagine how good this kid is gonna be in 15 years! You could just tell, even back then. He was a super cool kid dressed in a cowboy hat and just went into character at the first note. Amazing! Thanks Martin, great interview! Hi Josh!

Thanks Martin. I love Josh’s feel and technique and loved the interaction between you two. Josh didn’t hold your hand as he knew you would use your near computer like brain and adavanced ear training, to grab what he played, without handing you every note...smile. Result- we have enough blues nuggets to keep us busy for a while. An hour of you learning, is 20 hours to the rest of us mortals.

Oh man, this was the most inspiring guitar video I've seen in a long time! Thanks so much MM and JS! I know that this wasn't strictly intended to be a harmony lesson, but one of "those beginner things" that should be mentioned is the intermixing of major and minor harmony (as well as all those beautiful tones in between the major and minor third, accessible by bending) - its often times not just the overusing of "the pentatonic box" that makes beginner blues solos sound the way they do, it's the missing of the major (dominant) harmony - which is what I call most beginners playing "all icing (minor), no cake (major)", on "regular" blues.
