"It's upsetting because you don't want people to feel you've not served the thing that they're a fan of." (28:02) That's such a lovely sentiment. However, I sincerely feel that Daisy did a truly amazing job of serving the fans. The thing that let it all down was the writing and direction. Daisy was great! Also, feeling exactly the same about Gary Oldman's comments on Sirius.
@CATDHD
@CATDHD 5 ай бұрын
Gary Oldman was directed by Kuaron in the 3d movie and he was great there. In the 5th,it was that first time filmmaker that somehow was let to make all the rest movies,thus absolutely obliterating the quality of movies. I mean, the actors look in the wrong directions, absolutely bad misanscene. Just pure amateur mistakes, unforgivable for such a big IP as Harry Potter.

she didn't deserve all the fan hate with episode IX or those "fans" talking about the mary sue thing all the time. Daisy was a newcomer, she debuted with Star Wars and played a beautiful role as a heroine for young girls to be inspired by. It's a shame that the sequel trilogy was so poorly handled, each film had a different idea so that in episode VIII Rey would be anyone and in episode IX she is Palpatine's granddaughter, but the script is not her fault. I'm happy that she will return to the franchise!

A very geeky & rambling commenter here! While I strongly dislike Jedi & Rise & am only somewhat alright with Awakens, I don't blame any of the actors. Daisy is an absolute ball of sunshine & she, along with every other actor, just works with what is given to them. If I'm not mistaken & please correct me if I'm wrong, even JJ said it was a mistake not having at least an idea of what the overall arching story would be throughout the trilogy (not sure why that wasn't a thing to begin with). While I can't personally in good faith consider the sequels canon (Look what they've done to my boy, Luke!), I'm very happy for Daisy & I'm glad she's able to block out the noise & just have fun. I do believe there is some responsibility to be true to what's come before & what Star Wars is for most people but that does not solely fall on the actors. That weight should burden the shoulders of the writers & directors far more. For me personally, though, I would GEEK OUT & make sure that whatever Star Wars movie I'm in, I'd aggressively deep dive into Star Wars lore & make sure there is nothing but love & dedication going into the movie. I'd have Sam Witwer as my teacher & overall advisor on set. All that said, if you enjoy those movies, more power to you. I have nothing against people who enjoy them. Slight judgment maybe but I'm not going to rain on your parade. This comment was to vent my frustrations of the Sequels but also defend all the actors involved. Heck even defend any writers & directors who got hate, not criticism but hate. That vile isn't acceptable. Like what messages have you even been taking from Star Wars!? I'm pretty sure a big part of Star Wars is not giving into your hate & anger. I'll admit that can seep through sometimes but you just gotta remember to check yourself & to pull yourself back. Anywho, just a fan of Star Wars & Daisy looking out for both. Cheers if you read my silly little comment. 🙃

She's not a very good actress in general and she's very picky too. Whatever role she took it wasn't a smash hit in the box office after Star Wars. The movies were too small, cheesy and introspective. Not everyone wants to think too deeply on films about depression and mundane life. I think she's reprising her role as Rey for the next Star Wars cuz she needs money so she can keep making these small complicated films about the mundane.

Rule of thumb of any series, be it dilogy or trilogy or whatever, the final movie must make the whole series one conclusive story/bring a closure to the story and still be a movie of its own. Dont see how can anyone can call RoS either of those. Besides, it has intrinsacly bad script. It was a non-story, merely a reactionary to the previous 2 movie. And the sequel trilogy at the end of the day became a bad remake of the OG trilogy...with Palpatine bloodline winning at the end. And this is coming from a non-fan, just a casual viewer.

the movies are better in retrospect. There was a lot of initial shock because anticipation was so high, but I've realized kylo renn was sort of like khan from star trek into darkness which is a movie I really liked. I don't know if JJ deliberately modelled him after the character or if it was more subconscious, 30:54 the issue with the rise of sky walker was just that it ended up feeling like a video game. It felt uncanny nothing felt real. In some ways it was the most star wars of them, but in other ways there was just too much going on. Things didn't quite hit a proper pay off. It would have been a better story if Kylo wasn't defeated until the last movie. He needed to be that unbeatable force that Rey trained to defeat and finally does in the last film. Maybe Kylo Ren shouldn't have been redeemed. Maybe he should have just gone out as a villain. Just kept getting worse, after killing han in the first one, he defeats luke in the second, and then in the last one he dies in a fight with rey. We got what we got though, and it's all subjective at the end of the day.

Oh gosh, Into Darkness was terrible :-) I think many haters and lovers of Sequels tend to forget it is just subjective as you say :-) I do not like sequels, but so what? who cares? I also do not like Rogue One and was pleasantly surprised by the Solo movie. Now, we can hope, that the new Rey movie is at least a bit good and not another disaster :-)

Rise of Skywalker was not divisive. Its got a 86% audience score on rotten tomatoes!!

It's divisive, rotten tomatoes audience score might be the most useless and unreliable stat in existence and not an accurate representation of quality or reception. The film was soulless nostalgia bait, complete and utter crap, a wet fart of an end to the trilogy.

You do know that those reviews are fake right? Rotten Tomatoes is completely useless at this point.

RT became unreliable quite some time ago. The biggest IP in the history of storytelling with presidential campaign level of marketing budget barely reaching a billion, with the real budget going over what official number claims ($300mln) by a considerable margin makes it almost a flop financially. The cultural value after 4 years is self explanatory.

@@itcouldbelupus2842 Lol. So what is the barometer then? A few people shouting on twitter. What is the basis in fact that this film was divisive???? Note TLJ audience score is very low and that was divisive.

@@CATDHD Um, that's not remotely "a flop". By that logic, Rogue One was also a flop since its numbers are virtually identical. Also, Rottentomatoes doesn't mean shit; the film was/is divisive just like The Last Jedi, although I think there's more strong hate toward TLJ overall.

A comment to my own by grayfox below to this> They still don't get it, traditionally star wars lead roles for hero protagonists are men not women meaning story-lines are different...mannerisms, charisma, masculinity, femininity...they create their own stereotypes that people relate-to or don't. Meaning cinematography also changes the panoramic view and the surround sounds people expect from star wars as gender changes everything. Even if you use exotic locations and nostalgic actors and music, the end result will always be the same...disappointment! For human beings are not enlighten but impulsive on there emotions insecurities or a lack of? @N313GrayFox> What a wierd comment. You're literallly saying human beings aren't elightened, and that's why we resort to stereotypes...so maybe we should just be enlightened then? My Reply> This guy proves my point! Who should also use a spell checker...lol?

Star Wars fans should back off negative comments towards Daisy & Rey's character. Just because the writers and Disney took the character a certain direction doesn't reflect on how great a job Daisy has done with Rey. She is the reason I like the character Rey. I welcome her coming back and as she said if she didn't like the direction this time, she wouldn't be doing it. So I trust her decision and look forward to the next film.

I probably will get roasted but I actually loved Force awaken, the last jedi, and the rise of skywalker. I don't think Disney could of wrote anything that would of pleased the star wars fan base. There is obviously some Trauma with Phantom Menace so they are triggered. Kidding a side having the beautiful Daisy come back and actually have a store instead of a transition story line.

If you are not a bot, i will say that surely the production of the series reaching $1,5 bln cannot not look outstanding. And, btw, J. J. Abrams also felt the way you said - being as far from the prequel trilogy. The marketing was also quite a big for every movie, so blaming some trauma when a big chunk of viewership laid on teenagers that probably havent seen the prequels nullifies your little hypothesis about traume clouding the assessment. Besides, the trilogy was a bad remake of the OG, thats a no no for fans, since one of the core things about Star Wars was that every installment offered something new, a different mix of genres. Thats why marvel had a success in 2010s.
