Thank you Skip, just a point of information re the walls of Jericho: They fell down flat is a bad translation, they actually crumbled, creating a stairway up the slope to make it easier for the Israelites to take the city. If they had fallen flat it would have been difficult for the Israelites to clamour over the rubble, but falling in a slope they had no problems. Also the part of the wall where Rahabs house was, was likely still standing. We do indeed serve a Mighty God!

Gilgal or “Circumcision City.” That is a sign right there, all right. Up close and personal‼️ 😲

Thank you pastor for the teaching from the book of Joshua. I am very curious to learn more about what you highlighted about what was out of place biblically. One of the reasons I could think of is that God is trying to show us that who is REALLY fighting the battle here. It is The LORD of the army! God's way is higher than our ways. Learn about obedience & putt our faith in God. But I'm just curious about these specifics that you highlighted and if there's any significance or symbolism about them? I am enjoying your teaching. Thank you :) 1. Priests were exempt from fighting but here they're leading the army. 2. The Ark of the covenant was never taken to battle but here they're marching around Jericho with it. 3. The priests were using the rams horn instead of the silver trumpets. 4. They broke the Sabbath. 5. They marched around in silence for 6 days.

Again, the complete destruction of a city - including the men, women, children, and even animals in it (6:21) - is troubling to many people and cause them to ask believers “how can you serve such a god?”. We need to remember that the destruction is the true and righteous judgement of God on sinners and reflects His faithfulness in keeping His promise to Israel to inherit the land. It also points forward to His final judgment on those who reject Christ - whose sacrifice on the cross is the ultimate act of God’s grace towards humans. As the Giver of life, God has every right to take life to accomplish His purposes (Deuteronomy 32:39). He could eliminate all evil in an instant - but then there would be none of us left on this planet! It’s also worth noting that the unbeliever will criticize God for being “evil” - not realizing that they are appealing to an absolute moral standard that distinguishes between “good” and “evil” - an absolute moral standard that does not exist if in fact God does not exist! And if they claim they are defining “evil” based on their own opinion - then it is still meaningless - since they themselves are meaningless - simply bags of chemicals that came about through (very fortuitous) random processes millions of years ago. It is God that gives meaning to everything. God bless.

I see it's very easy for you to write this. Let me ask you a question, do you have empathy? Do you love people? I understand that you can kill your neighbors who don't believe in your version of God without any problems, because they are just chemical bags? So what if they feel, think, suffer, love and can act well, even though they sometimes make mistakes. How can you speak so contemptuously of your neighbors? Do you see people at all??? Apparently, Yahweh loves us, all of us, without exception. So why did he order to kill children and women? Where is his empathy and mercy? Yes, we are sinful, but we were given no choice when we were born into this disgusting world! We are born on this planet that he created, full of predators and evil. Even if we are the fruits of the fall of our ancestors, it is not my or your fault that we are. I don't kill my neighbor because he has a different opinion on many issues, I don't steal his house or car. This image is repulsive and disgusting. Of course, your Yahweh can kill me, after all, He is such a good God that it is no problem for Him to destroy an entire nation in the name of His great and holy SELF. I guess there is no need for Satan in this situation, because Yahweh is superior to him in every respect. Listening to this and reading what you wrote, holy man, makes me lose the desire to be a Christian in Yahweh's "perfect" world.

This was uploaded several years ago but should someone see my question, please help clarify. At about the 28:20 mark, Pastor Heitzig says the Isrealites only kept the Passover 3 times as of Joshua 5:10. I thought they kept it every year. How do we know they didn't? I'm not being argumentative. I'm trying to learn.🙂

Hello Ricki, Feel free to take this however you like, but I would propose that Pastor Skip is referring to the 3 Passovers during the recorded history of this time they wandered the dessert as in when it happened it was recorded. Since there are only 3 mentions of a Passover we can conclude that only 3 occurred during the time of their wandering. Hope this helps! - Miguel R.

@@miguelruiloba3565 I'm late on this reply but just listened to this sermon and looked this up as well. The only recorded times in the Bible were the first day of Passover in Exodus and then at the first anniversary in Numbers 9. It isn't mentioned anywhere else. That does not prove it to me.... yet. But, Exodus 12:48 a condition to having the Passover, even for foreigners, was to be circumcised. In Joshua 5, none of the Israelite men had been circumcised until they crossed the Jordan river. If they had taken Passover those 40 years, they would have been judged for taking it incorrectly. This is my humble observation.

Manna was the Israelites' wildnerness food, without their knowing. It was like a "magical" wafer that sustained them during their 40 year journey to the Promised Land.
