Not " everyone and their mother knew Francis won against Fury" It's quite opposite. MMA lovers make the claim Ngannou won despite landing fewer punches and scoring fewer points". Even Mike Tyson who helped train Ngannou said that Fury won. As does every other boxing analyst. I think Tyson Fury underestimated the fight and viewed it as a exhibition and simple money grab and it ALMOST cost him. What you saw from AJ was what is going to happen every time when an Olympic Gold Medalist and former heavy weight champ steps into the ring with someone making their 2nd pro boxing appearance. I hope this put to bed the notion that MMA fans and MMA fighters have that they can cross over to boxing and compete. MMA fighters have to be good in multiple different things...Striking, elbows, kicks, take downs, submissions, take down defense, etc. Where as a boxer is a master of one thing....Boxing. AJ had FN figured out within 30 seconds and spent the final 5 and a half minutes of the fight closing the distance and setting traps that FN walked into. AJ only used 3 punches all fight.....a jab, a cross, and that massive overhand right that put FN to sleep. He didn't even need to break out hooks or uppercuts. Plus, you could see Ngannou's muscle memory on display where everytime he threw a jab he immediately dropped his hands to defend against a takedown like a MMA fighter has to do. That opened his head and face up to AJ to throw punches to ring his bell. Go watch the Luke Thomas breakdown video to see just how different the actual skill was. AJ also had a huge advantage in that FN fought Fury first so AJ had a fight to watch tape of as well as FN thinking he was so much better then what he actually was. AJ beat him just by his footwork and how he would step in to the outside of Ngannou's body which meant Francis was never going to be able to land a hard shot due to AJ's positioning. We now have seen Connor McGregor cross over and lose to Mayweather, Ngannou get absolutely murdered by AJ, Ngannou lose by points to Fury and don't forget Nate Diaz lost to Jake Paul ( lol ). The best of the best in MMA always lose when they go up against a boxer.
