it's takes lots of confidence to take on a song made immortal by Janis but man Joss truly knows how to bring justice to it with her impeccable voice.

Janis is by far my all-time favorite.....saw her live.....shows my age! But Joss is as close as it gets.........she has a problem, no one to write quality material for her.....it is truly tragic. Good Luck....Joss, there has to be someone out there. You are fabulous.

Joss is unique amongst 'cover' singers. She will take a good song - but she doesn't try to copy the singing style of the original singer, she puts her own sound and style to it, - I think she is one of the most UNDERRATED singers alive today, and to top it all off what a voice - - - NO electronic alteration needed. She is simply - superb.............

Guitar solo was so weak. But I feel for the guy, because I play lead in a cover band myself, and it's often really hard to get a solo to stand out. The soundman is really the one at fault here, since he should have turned the guitarist's volume up and maybe gave him some reverb. But this is life in a cover band. It's an endless struggle for perfection.

She refuses to sell herself. THAT is why she's not getting airplay. And she's too good to sing along to.

Very difficult to compare SOUL with the BLUES. Covering Janis J seems almost impossible, but she did it in her own way. Still, I like Janis' more, she sounds more truthful.

This is gonna be an unpopular opinion, but here it is: Joss Stone is an undeniably great talent, but shouldn't try to do stuff like this. Whether her fault or not, they managed to take ALL of the soul out of this song. The original was great because it WASN'T overproduced. It was raw, pleading, sung by a fragile voice that'd had enough. When you put too much slick on top of something like that, it rarely works out.

Music is WAY too loud, killing the vocals. Shame.

I really like Stone, but this version is no where near as good, for my taste as the original. The guitar lead is not as pronounced, at all, especially in the intro. Maybe it was the pro mixing in the original recording, I don't know. This sounded really bland compared to Big Brother and the Holding company.

Great singer in general, but this version did not capture the soul of Janis.

Or did someone lie to you and tell you how sexy and great you sounded and instead of really doing the song any justice, you just let the praise go to your heads and never learned the correct bpm's of the song?
