In elementary school my teacher always scolded me for drawing things with a black outline, because in real life things don't have a black line around them either. She asked me to use shades to distinguish different shapes without ever showing me how to do that. I got so ashamed of my drawings that I stopped drawing altogether for almost 20 years because of that and I'm still somewhat awkward about my "childish" drawing style. Seeing your beautiful drawings with black outlines makes me so happy and heals my inner child. Thank you for letting us have such an intimate look into your practice. I'd love to see other videos like that. 🙏😍

Dude who ever you're art teacher was is an ass hole Ive been drawing for over half my life I'm 34 and I draw anime/manga characters and without outlines I'd be lost the only people who draw like that do ultra realistic stuff and I can say from experience it takes years of constant hard work to get to that level I'm nowhere close to that level my best stuff might be considered manga level but it still takes a house if not days to finish even one detailed drawing and that includes the background as well as the character/ characters my advice is never let someone else tell you how to draw I'm completely self taught and I'm glad that I never had a teacher for this reason it can be a very toxic environment

Did your teacher ever hear about imagination, stylistic preference, and/or various popular illustration styles **asks rhetorically.** I hope you go back to drawing with outlines.
@TheHermitHut
@TheHermitHut Жыл бұрын
@@arwenives apparently not. She said that was comic style which in her eyes is inferior to „real art“. Thank you so much for your support and wishes I rediscovered drawing and my creativity a couple of years ago and I‘m slowly chipping away insecurities with every stroke. 🙏🥰

Loving this video style. It's so cool to see you journal about a spell you posted previously. It's like a full circle moment. Do you have a system of sorts to remember which journal to reference if you are looking up past spells?
@TheWitchOfWonderlust
@TheWitchOfWonderlust Жыл бұрын
I plan to make a video eventually about my "system" for my grimoire and record-keeping. This journal you see here is what I call my "working" grimoire. So all the experiments and spells and such go in, then added sticky notes or pages for an update on the spell and my thoughts on it, or changes I would make. Then if I love the spell multiple times, it goes into my "final grimoire" that is all much more organized by use and such. For these "working grimoires" I don't have a specific system, other than leaving a bookmark or adding a tab to the page if I really want to keep its place. Otherwise it's not too much trouble to just flip through and find what I'm looking for.

I really like this format. Although it's very relaxing I think you could put some quiet music under it and it would be like an ambient type video. I believe a lot of your viewers don't really have the time to just watch you write for an hour. Maybe I just don't understand the point of these types of videos but you asked for opinions so I thought I would share my thoughts about it. Thank you for your great work!

I understand that! I personally put on videos like this when I'm reading, doing my own journaling, or studying. It's more of a background video "buddy" than a video to watch with attention fully all the way through. Thanks for the input!

I love the real time Journaling, it feels like were working with you and I enjoy getting to see how your pages turn out. The only issue I have with this type of video is that for me, it's really difficult to stay engaged in something without sound. If I were sitting down with a friend to do a project, journal, etc, I'd have to have music. My brain won't let me stay engaged otherwise.

I was into this. It became meditative. My only complaint were the ads. You and I would be drawing side by side. There would be the soft sounds of pen / pencil on paper, paper moving, clicking of the pen and then WHAM! A loud voice with music commercial that would make my heart jump. I wish paying for ad free videos were in the budget, but alas that is not the case.

I have always been so torn about my own grimoire pages, because I was inspired by illuminated texts filled with colorful paintings and drawings that each of my pages (for the most part) has some sort of watercolor or watercolor marker doodle on it. Hell some of my pages have stickers and washi tape. I often feel like its either too much and the information should be paramount, and other times I feel like ... who am I writing this for? I know this information I don't need to write it like a book. But seeing your page with the art front and center and so beautiful is very healing. Thank you. Learning from books and videos is great, but some of the practicality is missing. Like what might a *working* grimoire page actually look like?
