Things i loved about this video: -jimin amongst the maze of dancers who represents his dark thoughts/shadows - his turmoil, to break free from his shadows but constantly and viciously being pulled back by them almost drowning, the darkest thoughts pointing to himself that make him feel small and vulnerable - the spiral/cocoon formation before the butterfly move, symbolism of rebirth -the panopticon prison set and the flashes of the light and darkness. -the German poem on his body representing his journey, the cycle of life and growth -Rebirth scene at the end just so The song though- absolutely mind blowing 🤯!! Who knew the power the choir and the brass instruments holds. Haunting yet epic, triumphant. The repeated chants, the vocals plus the special effects to portray the different voices in his head. This is a battle song against yourself and to break free from the negative thoughts. It isnt supposed to sound all pretty and i thought the intention was very well expressed. The song, the instruments, the choreo- no matter from what part you look at, they all each tell a story. So beautifully executed. You are right, this is not just a pop song- this is art 😊

I was deeply touched when i discovered that it is written in germaan, because this is my mother tongue. it shows so perfectly Jimins personality. here is the english translation: I live my life in ever-widening circles that stretch themselves out over all the things. Updated Jimin info that some aren't aware of: ❣JIMIN, born October 13, 1995, at age 11, started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy. Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! The song, Jimin’s vocals, his dancing, the amazing choreography, which aside from the two main choreographers, he had a hand in, offering suggestions, also the amazing backup dancers, the lyrics he wrote, the music he composed as well as being involved in the production, even the set design of the MV. No wonder the in-house legendary producer for BigHit Pdogg, who worked with Jimin throughout the whole album, stated that “in 2023 K-pop will be ended by Park Jimin”! He "jiminified" every song, every choreo and... everybody Lol ! Set me Free Pt2 MV is mind blowing and left everybody speechless ! But it's not really surprising, coming from Jimin. He knows how to express himself, and transcending his feelings and emotions throught poetry, art and beauty ! There is a lot to say about this masterpiece, the links with one of his previous song "Lie", the panopticon setting, the lightning pulsing like a deep breathe ! The dialogue between his différent inner voices, using the autotune so artisticaly, (the angry one with autotune, the soft and hopeful one without, low and high register) , his facial and corporel expression. The wardrobe, the choir, the orchestral aperture, so épic. The shell/spiral/caterpillar/cocoon/Fibonaci sequence. And of course, the choreography, so powerful, a story telling by itself. The message of the song, the lyrics, the symbolism of the MV, and Jimin himself, the poem on his chest ... All is perfect, beautiful and meaningful !! Set me free is about breaking free from himself - as you have said- from his past struggles and the way people and opponents want to stuck him in a box. Jimin had a long and difficult journey for loving himself, playing with his différents "faces" /images/filters. He recently said : "« "Set Me Free Pt.2 was created when I was feeling lost and depressed. I was determined to overcome those feelings and had lots of those thoughts. It's a song that contains a lot of my emotions from then. Just like how we overcome challenges and get lost again. There are things we can't escape from as if we're on a hamster wheel.
