Journey was originally written to be a piece for voice and piano by the great composer Lori Laitman. The test came from a poem that the poet decided they didnt want used for the song after the piece was written. Thankfully, Lori decided that the closest analog to the voice is the saxophone, and I think she is spot on! I love all the subtle color changes that brings the subject matter of the piece to life! The poem was about a woman on a slave ship with her children being taken to the "new world"
