Love Love Love that rich red colored teak all over the boat. It just screams CLASSY. Especially with the green cushions. Very nice touch. It's just a very nice cruiser. I'd love to take her across the ocean just to see what a month or so would be like.

What are the benefits of buying a catamaran vs a boat like a sea ray?

+Mario Z -- Catamarans are more stable in calm to moderate seas, rolling less with wave motion. (The flip side to that...if you'll pardon the pun...is that in heavy seas they can flip and are not self-righting. That's not a major issue if the skipper pays attention to the weather and plans accordingly. Buddy Ebsen, for example, won the Multihull Transpacific Race from LA to Honolulu in his 35-foot sailing catamaran, Polynesian Concept.) They are also very fuel efficient compared to monohulls of the same length. Lastly, they are very beamy, so you get a lot of space in the saloon and helm, and on deck. (The downside is that they are a bit cramped down below, because the hulls are long but narrow.)

SeikiBrian, you are thinking about sail cats, different boat than power cats. A cat like this has a very wide beam and is MUCH LESS likely to flip than a monohull. The thing about self-righting is just weird. Any boat that finds itself upside down is in serious trouble and if it rights itself is probably swamped and not going anywhere regardless. Cats are more stable and ride better in all seas. Monohulls are faster. More usable room in a cat. Layout in the cat is strange because it has less room through the center of the boat. Bigger cats are flat through a turn and some guys don't like that. There are 2 types of power cats. Cats from the teens into the thirty foot range can be fast and they have narrow beams and are like monohulls in a way. Above about 35/ 40 feet (freeman brothers center console), cats become very wide, top out at about 25 knots, and become very roomy and fuel efficient. Almost like more seaworthy houseboats.
