I don’t even turn the tv on when I can have you to listen to

I came back to listen to this once again, with lyrics in hand. As I listened more intently than I had the other few times I had already listened, suddenly I realized...and started crying...this is my testimony of the God who never gives up on His children. I knew God from before birth, and have memories upon memories from age two onward (with some from when I was even younger). Then, when I was 12, in 1964, I chose to "walk away," and I did so for 14 years, until I was 26, in 1975. Listening to this again, and reading the lyrics...WOW!!! This song shows me a dialogue between the Great I Am and myself (indeed, everyone). I was never able to get away from Him. He was always there with me--waiting...calling...reaching out...loving me...protecting me...speaking to me...never EVER turning away...even when I was doing terrible things (the worst I could think of, at times). My full-on RE-turning point was a night after I had begun to creep back to Him, slowly, but surely, and yet that night had involved things I shouldn't have been allowing myself to do. As I tossed and turned, trying to sleep, later, suddenly Holy Spirit said very clearly and firmly, yet very softly and gently, "Linda--you KNOW I can't shut my eyes when you do these things. I am in you and with you, and I will NEVER leave you. When you behave in this manner, you are taking me with you. It's time to realize that." That was the end of my "walk-away" years. From that point on (though I still made mistakes--and still do, as do we all), I have NEVER walked away from my DADDY, my BROTHER, and the very SPIRIT OF GOD inside of me. I never will. Now more tears are starting, but they are good, grateful ones. Thank you, Lord, and thank you, Dan, for this beautiful cover.

Here's the thing. I have an ear for notes. I can tell when a note is just a little off. I often listen to professionals and I just wanna tweak a note they're singing. This guy, after watching many of his videos, has a phenomenal voice. Haven't heard one note that makes me cringe. No tweaking here. Perfect voice. And let me tell you, Steve Perry is not easy to sing.
