This was Arnel's first show with Journey. 5 minutes before the show started back stage, Arnel told Schon, that he wanted to back out and that "this was not buitt for me", Schon told him he will do great, and here we are the rest is history. What a performance!

This is HUGE at so many different levels: - To debut at Viña del mar (They are a TOUGH crowd... The audience's nickname is THE MONSTER) They've made artists cry... Look it up 🤣 -First show ever, singing with a legendary rock band, filling the shoes of a legendary singer... Killing the show, winning the crowd. Balls of steel right there 🤘ROCK & ROLL!

A decade later and I’m still having goosebumps watching his first performance with one of the most successful bands ever.

I have been a HUGE Journey fan since 1978 and Steve Perry joining the band. My girlfriend and I would listen to Infinity over and over. Steve Perry was AMAZING, and took Journey to the HOF with his I thought Arnel did an incredible job here for the first show ever. This had to be VERY difficult for him, had to be nervous, OMG how could he had be not been. FIRST show, never played in front of an audience like this and with JOURNEY. He looked like he was just having fun out there ☺️

arnel pineda spents 2hrs everyday in hes work as a vocalist in the philippines...so this 1hr and half is so easy to him.....

Man this is awesome. Imagine how Arnel must have felt when he walked on the stage and realized tens of thousands of people were there. No matter how much you rehearse, nothing can prepare you for that. He had only sang in small clubs to make money to provide scraps of food for his family before this. Yet he idolized Journey and the great Steve Perry. In this video it is very clear that through the first 4 or so songs he is lacking confidence. I am sure he is thinking things like, I can't do this or perhaps the audience will hate me. But by Wheel In The Sky his confidence kicked in and he totally owned the stage the rest of the way. Him and the band as well as the audience were feeding off each other. His charisma brought the place alive . I have seen Journey 8 times from 1983 to 2012. Those other two Journey replacement singers before Arnel did not have this kind of charisma and frankly the whole band just seemed to be going through the motions. Hell, even 1986 Journey seemed to not really be into it half the time. But Arnel's charisma gave the band life. Neal is rocking again. You can it on Jon's face from Wheel In The Sky on ward here. In fact I saw Jon and Ross both look at Ariel during Wheel In The Sky with a big smile. I know they were blown away at what was happening here. Arnel will never have to worry about feeding his family again. Great move Jon and Neal in taking a chance on Arnel. To everyone who says he can't sing like Steve I say who can. We all know Steve was the voice. But Arnel could perform and his voice is good. I have seen him 4 times and was never close to disappointed. And after seeing Jeff Scott Soto, Arnel seemed like Freddie Mercury.

I watch this concert over and over again,i am addicted to arnel's voice.

This is his 1st performance for a crowd of more than 200. 200 to 80,000. He may be a little short in stature but thats it. Unbelievable! GBS indeed. His voice and passion - the whole story..... youtube, embassy, his moms influence, tragic heartbreak as a young child, sleeping on streets at 13, singing for food, guys humility, charity...... lets see - oh, and can sing any note SP could (can't anymore!) with better stage presence too - no wonder Niel can't wipe that ear to ear grin when Arnel hits some of those sustained notes.... Niel always a guitar God in my book with Hendrix, Santana, Clapton, Page, SRV, Prince and a handful of others. Band sounds better than ever. Sound happier than ever too. Gotta buy that everymans journey movie..... wouldn't doubt he donates any of his profits from it to charity. Last thing - anyone hating on this dude is a complete ass!!!!

En el 2008 tenia 8 años, actualmente 23 y sigo siendo fan de Journey, me hubiese gustado haber estado en el festival para presenciar cada tema de esta agrupación, es algo que no volverá a ocurrir en Chile.

Journey is a very, very loved band in Chile and the Viña Del Mar Festival has had a lot of big stars in several decades and that’s why I think the Chilean audience is one of the best in the world. Journey has played in Chile about 4 or 5 times and have always loved it, there are a bunch of videos of shows with different bands and just check out the audiences, they always have a great time so that makes the music be awesome
