I am also a loyal fan of the journey for more than 30 years. I have always been very grateful to Arnel for his hard work, and have been continuing the spirit of the journey for us. Even though Arnel is no longer broad because he is 50 years old, I think I will always support this. A group with heart.Thank you Journey.Thank you Arnel!

Arnel is simply amazing. He tries very hard to keep the journey Tradition alive. As a chauffeur i drove Arnel to one of their shows. The whole 1hr drive he was singing and loosening up his vocals ..he was amazing just like him. And after the concert he hopped back in car absolutely drained but was still singing. Guys something special ! God bless Arnel Pineda

What an amazing story! Thank you! What I love is his humility. He keeps the Journey magic alive. All of the folks criticizing him really don't know how hard it must be to try to step into Steve's shoes. Arnel would agree himself that there is only one Steve- he's his idol! I think Journey is great. I didn't even like them in the 80's- I thought they were cheesy. But I love them now that I'm an old lady lol. Thanks again for sharing your story!

Arnel has kept the dream alive for a few more years. Considering he started so much later and had gone thru rough times to begin with, he's done great. Aren't all of us that remember Steve from the outset beginning to fade a bit? Just remember - our parents told us rock and roll would never last, and here we are, half a century later, still celebrating the power with generation after generation behind us still believin'!

Im old and my voice sounds like it did 35 years ago. If you take care of yourself and your instrument (the voice) it can last a very long time. Journey, has gone through 5 lead singers. Neal burns out his lead singers. As a lead singer in several rock bands (signed to RCA with Flame) and metal I can tell you this, there are few things that will blow out your voice. #1 if you cant hear yourself, you will push your vocals and you can loose your voice. With in ear monitors now, alot of that is solved. But, look closely at some bands, the lead singer doesnt use in ear monitors. They are not for everyone. I personally cant use them well because I have tinnitus in my ears. Too many years of standing in front of marshall stacks and everyone turned up and long nights of mixing albums with the volume at max. #2 Any form of alchohol or drug abuse - Kiss your voice goodbye! it wrecks your vocal cords #3 lack of rest & nutrition and hydration. Touring kicks your ass. Your vocal cords are attached to your body, if your body is tired, so are your vocal cords without even singing one note. If you have an upper respiratory infection (or the common cold) and sing on top of it, you are gonna blow out your voice. You think Neal is gonna take days off from performing/touring cause Arnel caught a cold. I dont think so. There are a lot of factors as to why Arnel's voice is giving him problems. Its one or all of the above. Here is the inside scoop on permanently damaging your vocal cords. For instance, your touring, you are tired, you caught a cold, you pushed your voice, your voice is shot, etc. So you find a DR that will give you a steroid that will shrink the swelling of your tired or sick vocal cords. A temp fix that will permanently damage your voice. You cannot sing on already sick vocal cords. Maybe once or twice you can get away with it (Im singing at Madison Square Garden, NYC) hell yeah, give me a shot & shrink my cords back to normal. Then your left with massively damaged vocal cords. Its like having a flat tire and driving on the rim for miles and miles. Will your rim be perfect when you go to change the tire? Maybe, if you didnt go too far on the flat.. Same with the voice. If Arnel is constantly having voice problems, there is an underlying problem. Age is not always the answer.

@Starz7232 жыл бұрын
Try singing those Journey songs night after night. Its at the top of a 1st tenor register. Im a pro vocalist and have toured. Its grueling. If he is lacking sleep his body is tired.. Vocal chords are part of the body and automatically tired at that point. His voice is tired and he is trying to not blow it out. Been there. I know the feeling. Every Journey singer has gone into burnout!!. Not enough rest between gigs. As soon as the gig is over, your racing to the next gig. They do one nighters, meaning, no rest between gigs. Night after night they are performing.. It burns out the singers. Everyone else is playing an instrument, just plug in and play. The human body takes a beating from touring. Remember that Journey is Neal!!!. Deen has one hell of a voice and could, quite frankly, be the lead vocalist but they need a frontman. Singing in that register is killer night after night. Neal, give your singer a break. Hopefully, Arnel is taking care of himself. You have to sleep well, eat well, no alcohol or drugs, no smoking. Its rough. Despite his voice being tired, he is doing one hell of a job. Neal, give Arnel a few days off!!!

This is to every Journey fan. If you can sing (in the same register that the Journety songs are written), I challenge you to sing the entire set, running around like Arnel does, AND,, get on the bus and go to the next gig, or fly, hardly get any rest and eat properly? night, after night in a different city. Sometimes you dont have the time to sleep properly and eat, you have to get to the venue and soundcheck and before you know it, you are performing again. I was a touring vocalist. You have no idea the toll it takes on the vocal cords and the body. Sing the entire set & perform on a few hours of sleep day after day after day. A cover band does not do one nighers and tours the world. The ultimate touring condition is a private jet, so you can get immediately to the next city, rest, eat and perform. That only happens to a choice few. Takes alot of money. I still have the same singing voice I did when I was 30. I sing 4 sets on a weekend, but I dont tour and do 1 1/2 or 2 hours of non stop top of my range songs night after night.. Those Journey songs are brutal when your peddling your voice up on the top of your register and going into falsetto. If Arnel is smoking, drinking, drugs & not hydrating & resting properly, it will affect the voice. I know a few industry secrets that vocalists do in order to "make the show go on" If anyone is a professional vocalist in the dead music industry we have now, or a touring musician you will know what Im talking about. Ill give you a hint, you have to have a DR & they administer it to you. Im not going to name names, but I know of quite a few who have done it, including myself!! Only once Ive done it. It has consequences if done frequently.
@Starz7232 жыл бұрын
@@themcfamilybentzil9449 Unless people are doing one nighters in a different city, they have no clue as to what it takes. As soon as your show is over, your traveling to the next gig. I have friends who just toured with Alice Cooper. Alice Flies to each gig, the rest of the band goes on a bus for a 12 to 14 hour drive.. Ive done that. I have trouble sleeping under the best conditions, on a bus, its horrible. Do you think the entire band is sleeping? no! it can be a madhouse. Vocalists have to rest the voice, sleep, eat properly, etc. no drugs, no booze, no smoking. Journey tunes reach up to a soprano register and belting out. There were times when management had to fly me to the next gig so that I could sleep. The rest of the band got pissed off. Management said, well if she cant sing, you cant play. no gig, no money. I dont know what goes after the show. I can only tell you what Ive experienced and other musicians that have toured one nighters.

such an amazing show of professionalism shown by Arnel. If you were able to catch him in his prime, early 20s, he is a real monster and could eat every vocalist alive, and all the way way through his 30s and 40s, until Journey discovered him, his range, stamina, showmanship, entertainment value just increased and peaked, he knows how to bring the crowds to their feet and command the baton, like pied pier, and Journey loves all these about Arnel, its obvious they are so happy and enjoying every gig, and everyone is giving their best, keeping it intact and giving a great show night after night year after year. There's a certain magic in them, a formula other bands didnt have, keeping it real, and their personalities shine through. that is the thing about resurrected bands in the middle ages, they have done this done that, and have weathered the storm, and experience is a big factor, and treating each other with respect. they love their fans, and the fans loved them, its a relationship. Arnel has a big heart. his character and charisma, his life story brings soul and essence to the songs, with positivity, and inspiration. with all the success, he still remains the humble guy, and back in the Philippines, he never sports any superiority and priviledged behavior, and that sets him apart from the rest. he should be recognized as a national artist , and in the Hall of Fame in the Philippines. I used to believe it was the Philippine's loss was America's gain, but now I realize his talent was given for the world to appreciate and enjoy. So give him the credit for still rocking hard all these years. He has been singing for 40 years now. Let's just hope and pray the God given voice will be here to stay and he take care of that talent. Much love and respect. Arnel.

The UNIQUENESS or the difference of Sir ARNEL PINEDA among other artist is his injection of unique innovations when a vocalist performs in a band. And how he pours his heart and soul into each song as he interprets and sing at the same time. That’s why when The Journey through Neal Schon hand-picked Arnel, there was a Divine intervention in there I feel, knowing that Arnel would give justice to their songs. At the same, God heard and make perfection, His promises to Arnel to grant his wish of recognition not only to his fellow artists in the Philippines and its audience, instead, he gave the world a new energy and a twist in Journey’s songs. As for me, Arnel is never a copycat of any artist for”HE IS HIS OWN MAN OF AN ARTIST “. He does not want to replace Steve Perry because SP among other Journey’s singer has their own time with the group…. And I call it Phase 1 or the First Book of The Journey when they were still younger and middle aged men at the same time. Arnel Pineda, came in the Second Book of the Older Journey…. He is in the Phase 2 or the Phase 2 per se along, Sir’s Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Deen Castronovo and Ross Valory. What I’ve said above were my opinion during my experience of hearing Journey with Arnel Pineda in main Vocals. I don’t even know, Sir Arnel when he was still based in the Philippines. I first hear him sing in You Tube with their stint in Chile in 2008. I was shocked that the main voice was a Filipino among a group of seasoned artist that of Journey. The rest is history and the beginning of my following and liking the Journey with Arnel Pineda as part of the band. Kudos ‘The Journey’. Mabuhay ka ARNEL PINEDA. SALAMAT SA MGA ELDER MEMBERS OF THE JOURNEY, KASI SA PAGPAPAHALAGA NILA KAY ARNEL, NAKILALA DIN S’YA NG PILIPINAS AT NG BUONG MUNDO. The humility of Arnel is impeccable and worthy of mentioning here plus the humility and goodness of the heart of Neal Schon and other members of the Journey, who welcomed him like their own skin and their own level. Being a member of the one of the best seasoned American Band never changed Arnel as an individual, instead he could help more people who need God’s help through Arnel’s good heart. 🙏🏼😇🙏🏼👏🏼

The raspiness of the tenor voice of AP is one of his vocal unique qualities but some bashers interpret it as losing his voice! - ( as in Bryan Adams's raspy voice for example ) It shows more of that rasp if AP sings ballad songs in which he put so many emotions and soul to it. which I find an incredible talent. Yes, AP is not SP. but he puts his own rendition to some certain Journey songs which are just reasonable. ( BTW, I moved on, SP is not coming back, it's great that Journey is still alive and AP is helping it happen for 15 years now as frontman! )I saw Journey LIVE Concert twice with AP and I can say it was such an incredibly amazing performance each time. Can't wait to see them again ding LIVE Concerts-- Journey rocks !!!!

I do respect Arnel and he saved Journey after multiple singers after Steve Perry. He doesn’t sing in the same high key in all of the classics that Steve Perry did years ago. Also, eventhough Arnel has sang in the band for 15yrs., Steve Perry STILL sang more concerts than ANY Journey Singer. In Steve’s 10yrs of touring & then recorded his final album with that was released 1996 “Trial by Fire”. You can add up the concert appearances on the online record of ALL Hourney concerts since they began as a band. The kept hiring singers who could sound as close to Steve Perry as possible, since the fans wanted the classics each concert. IMO, Arnel struggled in this video, especially, the last song “Don’t Stop Believing”. Arnel is 54 here and Steve Perry was almost 50 when Jonathan called him & said he was hiring a replacement since he hadn’t had the Hip Replacement yet.

@Starz7232 жыл бұрын
I personally know Steve Augeri. He is a great friend and was in my band before he was in journey. Ive said it all through this thread, Neal is Journey and he refuses to bring the keys of the songs down. if his singers have a cold, guess what, he doesnt cancel the gig, they have to sing with no voice to start with and then they damage the vocal cords even more. The journey catalogue is killer vocally. Its at the top of the 1st tenor register and into a female alto register. Try singing that night after night for months!! one nighters=no rest. Been there. What every band woud love is one night on, one night off and a private jet. That rarely happens unless your the rolling stones.

Several times a year I have seen them in concert until the pandemic hit. I am from the bay area, and remained "faithful' thru all the lead singers after Steve Perry departed the band.
